Trawick International Safe Travels Voyager
Had a trip to Copenhagen Denmark about May, 2022, that was interrupted by an illness. Our losses were perfectly covered by the policy; no applicable exclusions. Filed a claim in July, 2022, following the written claim procedure to the letter, with documentation (which, by the way, requires submitting the claim through Nationwide...leading to the conclusion that Trawick is either a subsidiary or its claims are serviced by Nationwide). No response other than an automated response that they are "receiving a high volume of claims." Followed up again months later. Again, no response. Followed up more than a year after the original claim. Again, no response. My conclusion is that this insurance is essentially a scam. It has now been well over a year and it is obvious they have no intention of responding. They are forcing us to take legal action. It is unfortunate that companies like Trawick/Nationwide are more than willing to take your premium but disappear when it's time for them to honor a valid claim.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
We experience multiple flight delays, lost baggage and even missed our cruise embarkation.
The online process is very cumbersome and they ask for ridiculous information "like a copy of your homeowners" policy when "trying" to fill out a claim. The process is very difficult and there are tons of information outside of the basic information you'd assume they'd require for a claim. Unless you fill and download the entire form, it will not even let you submit any of it. I called and emailed Generali's customer service several times with no help. In fact, I was pretty much told my claim would probably be denied without even submitting it. Even though, we missed our ship and had to fly into a different port than embarkation with no luggage to catch the ship the second day. I really feel they make the process so difficult on purpose and offer little help or concern if you call a representative. I basically just gave up! even though I had much proof of the delays, lost luggage, car rental to port and missing the embarkation. Waste of money!!!

Generali Global Assistance Standard
My flight was delayed 10 hours on return. We finally departed at 3 a.m. We sat in the airport for 10 hours because we had baggage and it was too difficult to leave the airport and come back again. I am 78 years old and in poor health. CSA pays nothing for delay, only for additional expenses such as food, hotel, etc., We did not incur expenses, only the unexpected misery of a 10 hour delay.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that your flight was delayed. The CSA Travel Protection Custom plan offers the following coverage Travel Delay:

    If you are delayed on your Trip for 6 hours or more, CSA Travel Protection will reimburse you up to 150 USD per person, per day
    for reasonable additional expenses incurred by you for
    hotels, meals, telephone calls, and local transportation. Proof of these expenses must be provided with your claim.

    Travel Delay must be caused by or result from:
    a. delay of a Common Carrier; or
    b. loss or theft of your passport(s), travel documents
    or money; or
    c. Quarantine; or
    d. hijacking; or
    e. natural disaster or adverse weather; or
    f. being directly involved in a documented traffic
    accident while you are en route to departure; or
    g. unannounced strike; or
    h. a civil disorder; or
    i. Sickness or Injury of you or a Traveling
    Companion; or
    j. death of a Traveling Companion.

    Travel insurance industry standard is to reimburse out of pocket expenses resulting from a covered peril. We understand that being delayed is an unpleasant experience, but travel insurance does not award benefits solely due to being inconvenienced.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Universal Cruise
Due to bathrooms failure on the plane we were taking to Copenhagen we had to turn around and return to IAD after a couple of hours flying. Because of this we had to cancel our non refundable hotel stay but we purchased travel insurance so we thought not a problem. The rep from Nationwide was very nice but told us we had no claim, so we’re not happy customers.

    We are very sorry to hear that your claim with Nationwide Mutual was denied under Trip Interruption which is the benefit that offers travelers reimbursement of their pre-paid, non-refundable expenses should they unexpectedly need to cut their travel short. However, reimbursement for your prepaid hotel expenses must be based on a covered reason as listed in your policy or your claim will be denied. Since bathroom failure on the plane did not fit into any of the listed events, your Trip Interruption claim was denied.

    You were also not covered under Trip Delay because it would only reimburse you for (a) Any reasonable additional expenses incurred; or (b) A one-way Economy Fare to return You to Your originally scheduled return destination, but not for pre-paid non-refundable travel expenses.

    Although we understand your disappointment, the Nationwide Universal Cruise plan is still a comprehensive travel insurance policy which provides a wide range of benefits. Regrettably none of our plans will cover every situation.

    We certainly hope that you continue to consider a Nationwide plan for future trips.     In order to be reimbursed under Trip Interruption for your prepaid hotel expenses, mechanical breakdown must be listed as a covered reason.

    Here are the covered reason as listed in your policy:
    "TRIP INTERRUPTION
    The Company will pay a benefit, up to the maximum shown on the Confirmation of Coverage, if You are unable to continue on Your Covered Trip due to:
    (a) Sickness, Accidental Injury or death of You, Traveling Companion or Family Member...:
    (b) You or a Traveling Companion being hijacked, quarantined, required to serve on a jury, subpoenaed, the victim of felonious assault during the trip; or having his/her principal place of residence made uninhabitable by fire, flood or other natural disaster; or burglary of his/her principal place of residence during the trip;
    (c) You or a Traveling Companion being directly involved in a traffic accident substantiated by a police report, while en route to departure;
    (d) You or a Traveling Companion have a transfer of employment of two hundred fifty (250) miles or more;
    (e) A Terrorist Incident that occurs in a city listed on Your Trip itinerary during the Trip...;
    (f) The Insured, Traveling Companion or Family Member, who are military personnel, and are called to emergency duty for a natural disaster other than war;
    (g) Bankruptcy and/or Default of the Insured’s Travel Supplier which occurs more than fourteen (14) days following the Insured’s Effective Date...;
    (h) An Insured is terminated, or laid off from employment subject to three (3) years of continuous employment at the place of employment where terminated through no fault of Your own;
    (i) Natural disaster at the site of Your destination that renders the destination accommodations uninhabitable;
    (j) Strike that causes complete cessation of services for at least twenty-four (24) consecutive hours;
    (k) Weather that causes complete cessation of services of the Common Carrier for at least twenty-four (24) consecutive hours and prevents the Insured from reaching his or her destination;
    (l) You or a Traveling Companion being required to work during the Trip...;

    Unfortunately, mechanical breakdown is not a covered reason so your claim was denied.

As a p and c person for 30 years for a RI company I should probably know better but when you purchase a package called ‘cruise’, is it unreasonable to assume that it is comprehensive? I guess research is in order.

    Even though this policy cannot insure a traveler who does not reside in the US, it can provide protection if you need to cancel your trip due to your traveling companion's covered cancellation.

    The CSA policy defines a traveling companion as "a person who, during the Trip, will accompany you in the same accommodations." This definition does not specify that your traveling companion must reside in the US for coverage to apply.

During my most recent vacation, my TSA lock was removed from my suitcase along with a very memorable ID identififw6on. This was likely by the TSA inspection team at the airport. When I decided to choose to file a complaint form for the removal of these items, I was told that I would have to first check back with my local home insurance company to determine whether they would cover the cost of this item. What puzzled me: was that I purposely took out travel insurance policy to cover such unexpected occurrences, but was quickly being directed to other insurance which was hoped would pay for any damages to this claim. As a travel insurance company, I believe that the first responsibility should be to the customers insurance company as the claim was directed to events occurring while travellng abroad, not in a condo thousands of miles away. It is,after all, something which has occurred in travel alone, & should be recognized as a travelling risk taken care of by travel insurance.

TripAssure Advantage Asset Plus
It seems as though whenever I do have to make a claim an item or incident is not covered by my policy. My phone was pickpocketed in Russia and of course as always, this "item" was not covered.
I take the insurance because I have an elderly parent who. I'm wondering, if in the event I would have to cancel a trip because of an illness, what are the chances that there would be some "reason" that my insurance would not cover this?
