AXA Assistance USA Silver
We were extremely unhappy that AXA would not reimburse us for a missed connection. We recommend that anyone considering this trip insurance not buy it. We paid more for AXA insurance than our friends who bought AAA insurance. Our friends were reimbursed immediately for the same missed connection while AXA refused to pay for the additional tickets that we had to purchase when our connection was missed due to a airplane mechanical problem. We appealed the refusal and were told since technically the delay did not meet their "3 hour requirement" they would not reimburse us. When asked if a appeal like this was ever granted we were told to the agent's knowledge "no such appeal had ever been granted".

Thank you very much for your comments.

On behalf of the Insured, InsureMyTrip did follow up with AXA Assistance on the status of the appeal. Unfortunately the appeal was also denied since reimbursement under Missed Connection required at least a 3 hour delay. This delay totaled 1 hour and 43 minutes so reimbursement was denied.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
It's been two weeks since I filed a claim and I have heard zero - nothing - from the company you chose to process claims (CBP Insure). I sent an e-mail and got a response that someone would contact me within 2 business days, still crickets (nothing). Claim/Policy Number: NWE23030222244K
Member Name: GEORGE OUIMET; Update: I heard back after nearly a month. CLAIM DENIED except a $100 a day maximum reimbursement. What a joke it didn't even cover the cost of the policy, so Nationwide made money and we have an out of pocket loss of more than $2000. READ THE FINE PRINT, the only things they cover for trip interruption are things that almost never happen. To no fault of ours one of our connecting flights was delayed more than 4 hours, which caused us to miss our flights home. No refund, no voucher to get a new flight, nothing. Stranded with no way to get home and this lousy Nationwide Policy DIDN'T COVER IT. Never again!

AXA Assistance USA Silver
AXA said the Silver Plan covered new illnesses and then denied this when I reported a new illness. They said that this was because I lived in New York, even tho they always knew this. They simply cheated.

We can't comment yet because we have not submitted yet the claims for the doctor and emergency room cost. My wife had an accident and we paid a doctor and emergency room with our credit card. We are waiting for the bill from a second hospital also. Once we submit and you reimburse we will be more than glad to make a glowing wonderful review of the insurance that we purchased. The only reason I marked low was because this form demanded an answer. Once reimbursement is made please change all to great. We just arrived home Friday night, my wife has an appointment with our doctor here today regarding the accident in France. Will know more later. Sorry for now. 304.312.6955

I flew to Paris on 10/20/2016 and my baggage was delayed for 3 days. I filed a claim with MH Ross through TripMate on November 1, 2016 right after I came back for my trip for the costs that I incurred due to my luggage delay. I submitted a claim for approximately $200.00 and I am still waiting as of 2/22/17 for my claim to be processed. I have called on numerous occasions and submitted all the documents needed and my claim is still pending even though the last representative that I spoke to told me that they have received all the documents needed. Keep in mind that the claim is only $200 and I can imagine how much of a headache it would be for a much bigger claim! This is the first time that I ever filed a claim and I am extremely disappointed with MH Ross. I do not recommend to anyone to purchase insurance policies from them.

After months of going back and forth with this company, they finally paid just a small portion of the claim. Do not recommend!

We are very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the TripAssure claims process. Upon receiving your review on February 1, 2018, we assigned an "Anytime Advocate" to look into your 2017 claim.

In response to her inquiries, TripAssure advised that your claim was actually finalized back on Feburary 22, 2017. The payment for 110.70 USD was then printed and mailed on February 27, 2017 for toiletries purchased while the baggage was delayed. However TripAssure also sent you a letter on February 23, 2017 advising that they would not reimburse you for the additional airfare since it is not a covered expense under Baggage Delay which was correct according to your policy terms.

Hopefully we will hear from you for future trips. We are available to assist you in quoting and purchasing a plan weekdays from 7:00 AM to midnight ET and weekends 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM ET.

The claim took a while, and you could not speak to anyone on the phone. All of my flights were cancelled by the airlines as there were mandatory quarantines in both the USA and our destination countries. I did receive refunds from the airlines but they refused to refund for the other prepaid expenses even though the airlines, and not me, cancelled the trip.

I highly recommend searching for other health plans with other companies. The average rating on this webpage is artificially inflated by people who rate this company highly who only bought the policy and never used it.

I have been told by customer representatives it takes 30 business days for a claim to even begin to be processed. Given that you have to pay upfront and get reimbursed later, this can be problematic if services cost quite a bit of money. Furthermore, I have a claim that I filed over 3 months ago that has yet to be processed. I was told this claim would be "escalated and prioritized" twice and to check in after 15 business days. After waiting those 15 business days, it was revealed that the person I originally spoke with forgot to actually prioritize the claim.

This company has recently been the victim of a cyberattack and they are claiming that as a reason for the delays in claims for good measures. However, now is not a good time to buy a policy as time will only tell how long they will use this hack and CoVid-19 as an excuse for horrible customer service. In my opinion, the lack of cybersecurity measures given by this company not only delays their capacity to provide quality service, but also puts customer's personal information including banking details for reimbursement at risk for hackers.

If you read the fine print of most of their plans, you will see that many things such as pre-existing conditions, mental health coverage, and many other illnesses and conditions are not covered in this plan. This plan gives its policyholders a false sense of security.

I would steer clear from this company. I have experienced nothing but utter incompetence since opening my policy with them and actually using it by filing claims.

Travelex Travel Select
My trip included a stop in Barcelona and a flight back to the US from Barcelona. Riots broken two days before my flight there, I contacted Travelex and was told that any diversion from Barcelona are at my cost and the policy doesn’t cover Civil Unrest. I had to guarantee my safe return to the US on 10/19 due to work commitments. I found out that all of Catalonia organized a general strike and a march on Barcelona for that day and the day before. I had no choice and had to purchase a ticket going back home from Paris. that ticket cost an additional $515, a cost that I expected is covered by the policy. There is no way, ill ever forget that. How often civil unrest happen, that it wouldn’t be covered. What’s the point of paying for a policy that is useless. Rest assured that I will not shut up about it to my friends. Employer, family.

We appreciate your feedback. Here is the reply from Travelex:

"Thank you for taking the time to post about your experience on Insure My Trip.

The Travel Select policy purchased is a Named Peril Policy, meaning any reason for Cancellation or Interruption is listed in the policy details, and if it is not listed, then there is no coverage. The policy details which were sent to you, via email, on October 4, 2019, at 9:38 am, when the policy was purchase, also lists all the exclusions.

The exclusions listed on the Travel Select plan are standard in the Travel Insurance Industry and do reference very specific scenarios.

We empathize with your unfortunate situation, and we are happy that you arrived home safely. However, it is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated, and all claims are determined based on the documentation submitted in relation to the policy that was purchased.

    Kind Regards,
    Amber"

I was compelled by my tour operator to buy this insurance for a four-day trip to Paris. I paid $124 for it. Useless, as far as I am concerned.

Thank you for providing feedback on this policy.

Each Company will base the premiums of their plans on 3 main factors; (1) the ages of the travelers, (2) the length of your trip from home to home and (3) the total cost of your pre-paid trip cost. As the traveler's ages change, trip costs increase or the length of the trip is extended, the prices will also change accordingly.

Please feel free to give us a call when you plan your next trip. We have licensed representatives available 7 days a week to help find the best policy for you, at the lowest premium. We can be reached at 1-800-487-4722.

BEWARE! I will never purchase insurance from any company that uses Tripmate to handle their claims. After taking months to handle, they first denied my claim, and then after an appeal process, they eventually paid but shorted me. My travel partner purchased insurance through insuremytrip with another provider and I purchased through MH Ross, and I submitted all documentation to both companies. The other provider paid in full within two weeks. Seven months later, I am still dealing with Tripmate Tripmate did not have my back after years of never having to submit a claim. BUYER BEWARE!
