I missed my flight due to a complication at the airport. The plan did not cover anything related to missing my flight. Giant waste of my money.

John Hancock Bronze
In November of 2019, I purchased an entire plan to protect and safeguard my investment and safety; Interruption, Cancellation and Cancel For Any Reason. While in Iceland during March 2020, Covid 19 interrupted our once in a lifetime vacation. Our flight was cancelled, we had to purchase more tickets and we were required to fly into a designated quarantine airport and then ordered by the CDC and DHS to quarantine at home, which we did. The CDC website states a quarantine will take place at home. The DHS (Department of Homeland Security) website states that all US passenger returning from Iceland will be quarantined. The John Hancock policy (managed by Seven Corners in Indiana) states in section (n) states: “If You and/or Your Traveling Companion are hijacked, “quarantined”, required to serve on a jury, subpoenaed, required to appear as a witness in a legal action, provided You or Your Traveling Companion are not a party to the legal action or appearing as a law enforcement officer; the victim of felonious assault; having Your principal place of residence made inaccessible and uninhabitable by a Natural Disaster; or burglary or vandalism of Your principal place of residence “within 10 days of departure”, they would pay for a Trip Interruption claim. The policy only says to be quarantined and we were quarantined within 10 days of our departure. For some reason, Seven Corners Claims Adjusters have turned a blind eye and denied my claim twice. They manufactured phrases to persuade me to accept the denial. I recently made a 3rd appeal and filed a Civil Remedy complaint against the company for Bad Faith and deliberately delaying my claims for over 3 months. If I can travel again, I will never purchase a policy from John Hancock again. John Hancock/Seven Corners should be ashamed of how they treat customers the way that they have during this unprecedented Pandemic. Please keep in mind that insurance companies like John Hancock know that most people will give up on a denial, that’s why they’re multibillion-dollar companies. If you have the time, do not give up and fight for what’s just.

Generali Global Assistance Preferred
Our trip to Iceland was interrupted by a winter storm that caused a government mandated closure of the roads and prevented us from getting to our return flight. We had to reschedule for the next day at an additional charge. Generali denied what would seem to be obviously a trip interruption and/or delay using logic that defies common sense. They are not to be trusted to do the right thing. The fine print is more important than their concern for their customers.

Travelex Travel Basic
We had a pet emergency the night before we were to leave and had to postpone our trip for 3 days. It cost a lot to reschedule the flight and we lost the full amount of our first 3 night booking so the insurance, without coverage for pets, didn't help us at all.

    Dear Paul;

We want to thank you for taking the time to put your concerns in writing, and we are sorry for your frustration.

The InsureMyTrip.com website allows you to compare the benefits, coverages, and exclusions of the insurance plans offered. The protection plan’s Description of Coverage is available on the InsureMyTrip.com website to view prior to purchasing. It was also emailed to you, along with the Confirmation of Coverage, at the time of purchase on May 8, 2017 at 2:38pm.

Please keep in mind, that the Travel Basic protection plan that was purchased is a Named Peril Policy meaning the policy outlines the coverage included and if the reason for trip cancellation or trip interruption is not listed, coverage does not apply. The 13 different reasons listed for Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption can be found on pages 11 & 12 of the Description of Coverage. Unfortunately, pet emergencies are not an eligible reason for trip interruption benefits.

We empathize with your unfortunate situation; however, we trust that you understand that based on the terms and conditions of the protection plan purchased.

    Kind Regards

Generali Global Assistance Standard
Very disappointed in General Global Assistance and its deceptive marketing. We included and paid for "Cancel For Any Reason" except for a "listed covered event" in our coverage. We cancelled it per our own personal misgivings about Covid circumstances. While there were pandemic warnings about international travel, there were no restrictions about our travel.

This was misleading business, and we're very dissatisfied with the company's performance. Not only will we never use it again, it should be a warning to any members of the traveling public who may ever consider employing General Global Assistance.

Thank you for your review. Please see the following response from Generali Global Assistance.

"We're sorry to hear you had to cancel your trip and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We want our customers to choose the correct policy to fit their needs and cannot stress enough that it is important to review the coverage details of our plans via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions you may have. We also offer a free look back period with all of our plans to allow customers to cancel their policies within a designated period as long as they haven't already left on their trip or filed a claim. The plan you purchased includes a variety of different covered events under which we can provide coverage if you are forced to cancel your trip. The plan is unfortunately unable to provide coverage for every event that might cause you to cancel. If there is something specific that you want to be sure is covered, feel free to ask about it before you purchase the policy. Please reach out to us at the number or email provided above if you have any additional questions or concerns."

WorldTrips Atlas Journey Economy
We missed 4 ports of call on a trip to Iceland, Greenland, and Canada because of weather. Our ship was delayed 48 hours on the very first day and then we missed 2 more ports of call during the trip. I filed a claim with documentation from the cruise line that clearly stated it was a weather delay/issue but my claim was denied because we were already onboard the ship! I've used many other travel insurance providers and a missed port of call was ALWAYS covered under the trip interruption clause. We checked the other policies and the language was the same as in the World Trips policy so they just didn't want to pay for a set of circumstances that clearly was a trip interruption

I cancelled the cruise that this policy was for.
I requested to use the premium on insurance for another cruise that I had previously booked and paid for.

Was told I could only use it for the voucher I received for the recently canceled trip and a new booking.

I have no plans for a new booking in the immediate future because of uncertainties of COVID .

I will not ever again use Insure My Trip to purchase travel insurance.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Travel insurance is a necessity in these days, but it is largely a scam because companies (hotels, airlines, tour operators) want to charge for services they don’t provide when something changes for their customers. It should be the companies buying insurance to cover their losses, not consumers. Unfortunately, unless there are better consumer protections in the future, these policies will continue to be important. This was the cheapest we found to cover what we needed.

International Medical Group iTravelInsured SE
Bought trip insurance in May for wife and i for a 8/4/18 trip. Had to cancel 48 hours before leaving due to my wife injury. Took 48 days and more then 24 contacts after filing to get paid - usual response - "working on it, will expedite, will call you back (8 times, never did), claim approved and will be paid in 1-3 days ( on day 32) , claim size large takes longer, back office very busy to respond, etc."
Only after contacting InsuremyTrip (IMT) on day 42 did things start to move at IMG and a check was mailed 6 days later.
Stay away from IMG. Insuremytrip staff were very helpful and responsive but they should remove IMG from their offer lit.

Thank you for your review. We certainly hope that your wife has fully recovered from her injury and is doing well.

We appreciate your feedback on the claim process with International Medical Group and have shared your experience with the company who uses your comments to better improve their service.

Although it may have taken more than 42 days to respond, we are glad to hear that you received your check. Unfortunately, International Medical Group, as with many other travel providers, have a lengthier turnaround time during hurricane season in processing claims.

Please feel free to call us at (800)487-4722 if you have any questions.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
We could not figure out how to make the collect call that was to be used to notify this insurer of our issue. No one in the country we were in, (Iceland) knew how to make a collect call. We tried to email the insurer and they gave us another number. It was so difficult we gave up. While our issue could be dealt with when we got home, if we had had a true emergency we would have been left hanging with no help. An insurance policy where you can't contact the insurance company is no good to anyone. At the least, the insurer should provide instructions for making a collect call in the country you are going to.
