DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE! I paid extra for the cancel for any reason. My trip has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus and a travel ban to the country I was trying to go to. I was told cancel for any reason would get me 75% of my money back. My booking site is shut down due to the virus and I filed a claim on March 31st (over 3 months ago) Called them multiple times. Emailed with them multiple times. They still haven't refunded me. I could only imagine what they would do if there was a true emergency. Save your money and look for other companies that stand by their word and care about their clients. DO NOT TRUST THEM.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Choice Cruise
My friend and I purchased the insurance. My friend died and the amount of paperwork to file a claim was ridiculous. I was able to get refunds for my friends family for the flight from the airlines, not from Nationwide, didn't even want to try and tackle that paperwork. I was able to find a friend to take my friends place on the Cruise. The insurance was useless. Plus Nationwide would not even consider refunding my dead friend's insurance. She didn't need it when she was dead. All I got was, "it's nonrefundable" Thanks for the sensitivity.
The insurance was a useless waste. Like all insurance, the company is only interested in finding a way to not have to pay, so why purchase it?

    Thank you for taking time to submit a review. We are sorry to hear that your friend passed away. That was very considerate of you to assist the family with securing refunds from the travel providers.

    We did follow up with Nationwide claims who indicated that you made several calls to the company but did not submit a claim. We regret to hear that you believed the paperwork required was excessive, but the paperwork is necessary to submit a claim.

    Nationwide also advised that the estate of the deceased would have to request the policy refund.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
This travel insurance thing is a pretty good scam. If you look at all of the glowing reviews you see comments like “I didn’t need to use the plan” “...but it gave me piece of mind.” LOL. Seriously? How can you give glowing reviews to something you never used? Folks wake up and look at the ratings for people who DID TRY to use the plan. We purchased this plan months before the Coronavirus even existed. Our vacation to Jamaica had to be canceled because they were quarantining arrivals for 14 days. Fortunately our flight was with airline miles that were given back to us. We got a travel bank credit for tax money that was extended well beyond the normal time frame. The resort also offered a full credit for use until the end of 2021 AND a resort credit of $200 for goodwill even though none of this was their fault. And then we have Nationwide Travel Insurance. We asked for a refund of this unused policy due to a once in a lifetime event so that we could repurchase a plan when we rescheduled our trip. We got “you are outside the 10 day review and cancel window”. Really? Almost every other business in America is bending over backwards to help out customers. Nationwide? Not happening at Nationwide. If you ever need to file a claim with Nationwide, we wish you luck. We will have a hard time EVER purchasing another plan from Nationwide. We look forward to another legalese response just like all of the other ones provided when someone posts a less than stellar review.

BUYER BEWARE The whole reason for trip insurance is when something goes wrong. We live in Michigan and fly out of Toronto and the borders are no closed. Travel Safe says that it is not a "quarantine" and is an isolation instead and will not honor their plan. I always buy trip insurance and NEVER use it. This company had high ratings and this should not be something that I should have to fight with them about. I would rethink if you want a company to stand behind their product and customer service. I will submit a claim and will update if they change the ruling.

Global Alert! Preferred
It has taken me almost a year to write this review. When I was searching for trip insurance for my next trip I realized how important an honest review is and decided to write this finally. I was injured on the first full day of a trip to jamaica. Dealing with this insurance company from Jamaica was a nightmare! It took them 12 hours for them just to authorize me being admitted to the hospital (while I lay in the filthy emergency room). Only when the hospital was going to put me in the street did they come through. HOURS were spent on the phone with my family and the Jamaican orthopedic surgeon with this insurance company. Then it took an additional 20 hours for them to authorize my evacuation home and many many more hours of my family AND THE SURGEON arguing with them. After returning home, having surgery by an orthopedic surgeon (this injury caused me to be non weight bearing for 3 1/2 months) and submitting everything for reimbursement of the rest of my trip, did I find out how HORRIBLE this company was. I fought for months with them. Often there was no way to reach them as they wouldn’t answer the phone or they would hang up. When they promised a call back they NEVER called back. I never got nasty with them, but I sure did cry. When they finally sent reimbursement it was 1/5 of what it should have been. I had to file an appeal and wait another 5-6 weeks for additional reimbursement. Even then they shorted me about $700-$800 from what it should have been. I would NEVER EVER use this company again. They were also known as Trip Mate. Customer service was NON EXISTENT. While in the Jamaican hospital we did get assistance from an insure my trip reprentative who told Global Alert that they HAD to provide medical care for me as we had a contract with them, and that helped get me admitted. I would use insure my trip again but never ever Global Alert / Trip Mate. If anyone questions the authenticity of this review I have documents and every note I made for months to back it up. I am HAPPY to share them!

Travelex Travel Select
I am an expatriate from Canada who is living in the U.S. on a work visa. I was travelling to Jamaica and needed to get some health insurance that would cover me. The cost of this week's insurance is more than I pay for a year of better coverage when leaving Canada and it was not quite absolutely reassuring that this plan would for sure cover me if something did happen.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Too many nuances and gotcha in the plan to cover critical things such as Covid coverage or trip cancellation. Look at AIG Travel plan - so easy to read with no exceptions

Flight cancellation for international flight from Boston due to weather. We had to drive 4 hours to JFK in NY to catch our flight and drive back to Boston after our return flight one week later. Filed a claim for gas we brought for our car for the 2 drives and parking at JFK airport. Did not submit any food receipts. Overall claim amount was a very reasonable and around $ 200 for 5 people. IMG approved gas money but denied parking fees!! So okay to drive to JFK but not park our car there ? Our sense is that IMG wanted to make sure that they pay only part of the claim to preserve their profit margin. Disappointing!!

Consumers Beware - Do Not Purchase this Company Plan. Before you make your decision - read their policy carefully!!!
The Plan I purchased includes coverage for trip delay at $150 per day - which by default, in all other insurance companies I used in the past - covered the unused part of your prepaid expenses (with a maximum daily limit). However, Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company does not cover that and does not explain that in their policy before you purchase it. My flight was canceled and I made it to my destination 24 hours later. I filed a claim due 24 hours delayed arrival to my vacation, but my claim was denied. According to their rules, they only pay for the additional expenses that happened due to the delay, and not the lost unused portion of you package. The way I see it - it is a highway robbery. I had similar situation before with other insurance companies, and even though I did not get the amount I actually lost by prepaying, I did get their maximum per day that was described in the policy. I do not recommend this policy to anyone and will never buy coverage from Nationwide Mutual Insurance company again.

    You had the following coverage for unused nonrefundable trip costs, under Trip Interruption:
    Weather that causes complete cessation of services of the Common Carrier for at least twenty-four (24) consecutive hours
    and prevents You from reaching Your destination.

    You are correct in stating that the Trip Delay coverage is for expenses that you incurred while delayed.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Vacation Renter Protector
I had to transfer my plan to a different trip. You allowed me to transfer coverage but you didn’t adjust the cost even though the new trip was substantially less.
