AIG Travel Travel Guard® Essential
HORRENDOUS SERVICE, FRAUD. Purchased travel insurance specifically covering trip cancellation. Trip was cancelled and full documentation of cancellation and non-refundable costs was provided.

AIG fraudulently denying the claim and citing one technicality after another. It was bad enough that the trip was canceled now I'm in a bureaucratic nightmare

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Nationwide is not on your side. I booked multiple trips and purchased multiple insurance plans with Nationwide. They failed every time. They acted poorly right out of the gate - starting with not returning calls to not paying a very small claim. I worked hard to minimize any losses even though I had insurance (or so I thought). My insurance cost $218 and my claim was a mere $283. I even emailed the CEO and never heard back. Apparently their poor way of treating people starts at the top. I was shocked at how devious and cheap they were. I have used other companies that charged more but settled claims quickly, fairly and honestly. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. I do like InsureMyTrip - they did try to act on my behalf.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
I'm actually not sure if this was a good plan or not because the communication from the people I spoke with was so convoluted. My travel was caught in the Japan multiple disasters of the worst Typhoon in decades and the Earthquake. I was stuck at the airport, my lodging and trip was in question and the two people I spoke with were indirect about my options to the point of being rude. I never got a straight answer whether I was covered or not. One person said, "we don't cover any losses from a little rain." This was a national disaster! The airport was shut down. People died. I was horrified. I asked to speak with another person and he said, "I can't do that." I hung up and called back and got another person who was a bit better but still very convoluted in her response. "Well, we can't say, but you can file a claim."

In the end, I made my trip, 2 different plane bookings later; I was 2 days late - but the hotels did not charge me. I lost a little money on plane flights but decided it was not worth the hassle with these people. I definitely do not recommend.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
One of the primary reasons for purchasing this plan was because they supposedly provided PRIMARY medical coverage. My husband and I came down with 2 medical issues on a cruise which required seeing the ship’s doctor. When we returned home, I called AXA and requested a claim form (don’t bother sending an email. They will send an acknowledgement but won’t respond otherwise). When I reviewed the claim form, I was shocked to find that this is actually SECONDARY coverage, because coverage is only on an EXCESS BASIS, i.e, they require that you file with your primary insurer first and provide a copy of the primary insurer’s EOB. As I know that my primary insurer will not cover 100% of the medications, it means I have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to receive a very small payout from AXA.

I checked Squaremouth’s website for this same policy, and it states medical coverage is PRIMARY. InsureMyTrip has NO information on this point. Buyer Beware with AXA.

GoReady Insurance Cruise
After this experience, I will never purchase travel insurance ever again. They covered absolutely nothing. It took forever for the review process. The questions asked during the review process didn't make any sense. And after all the deal, they cover absolutely nothing. I'd heard it was a waste of money. I know what they are talking about now.

I am quired about the possibility of some thing being covered by the plan. I waited 75 minutes on hold the first day before I gave up and finally got to speak to a human after more than 100 minutes the next day. You should be ashamed with yourself to provide such a piss poor level of customer service

Travel Delay is limited to a small amount, regardless of the delay. One would think trip interruption would cover airline mechanical problems that result in delays, regardless of the number of days (today's airlines fly with fully booked planes, so getting on a plane can be very difficult); but it doe not. This is a large gap in coverage that should be included covered!

There are several plans that would provide more comprehensive coverage for Travel Delay if that were your major concern. I attempted to file a claim after I returned from my trip for a covered expense. Company that was supposed to handle the claim, per the policy, no longer handles claims. Was told to contact another company, who they apparently outsourced travel insurance claims to, and they are very difficult to work with. They do not respond to emails or communicate the status of any claims. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I have used insuremytrip.com dozens of times and this is the first time I actually need to file a claim and this is what happens.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
We never got to go on our trip that was planned for October 25, 2019, because on October 23, my healthy husband had emergency heart bypass surgery. Needless to say, vacation was the furthest thing from our minds. I alerted the airline and the travel company to delay our departure for six months to April 25, 2020, but I failed to contact insurance company. When I did, it was past our departure date. I didn’t want to file a claim because we are still planning to take the trip. We asked for the insurance coverage to be reassigned to the future dates for the same trip. We received no satisfaction, no compromise, no consideration. It’s all business, no humanity. Just pay again if insurance is needed. No thank you...

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime
Plan covered additional costs from a delay, but not lost expenses already paid for a delay.
This does make sense, but it is buried in the fine print. It could have been a lot clearer up front.
