I had to appeal three times before $40 of my $120 claim for expenses incurred as a result of baggage delay was allowed. They didn't think the cost of transportation to get to a store to purchase needed clothing was reimbursable. People I spoke to on the phone had no authority to deal with the claim. The documents sent to me referred to me as "the patient" on what was obviously a medical insurance form. I think the claim was finally allowed only because I was stubborn and persistent.

If you want a plan that covers you when things go wrong, this is NOT THE ONE. RoamRight refused compensation of any kind when we missed our connection (foreign port of entry) due to an extremely long line in immigration. This was absolutely not of our making. The airline refused to accommodate, cancelled the remainder of our tickets and left us stuck having to buy new tickets for onward travel. You would think this situation is PRECISELY what trip insurance is for, but if you purchased RoamRIght you would be mistaken. RoamRight has disclaimed all responsibility and paid out $0. DO NOT USE.

I highly warn people to NOT get this insurance.
The claim process is fairly simple. Fill in a form, send it along with scans of the documents.
BUT the catch is.

They only make settlements of claims through CHECKS. Yes, you heard that right, checks in the mail.
What is this, are we in the 80s?? Also.... it doesn't matter if you're abroad.

They'll send you a US check, for a US bank, and expect you to somehow cash it in.

So, if you're not living in the USA, then this insurance company is not for you.

Stay away.

I bought this plan, but received my insurance document in a corrupted PDF file. Contacted both Insuremytrip and Tokio Marine HCC and they asked me to log in the website to access the documents. But guess what?! It does not work either. And I´ve written to them and they do not even care to put some effort to send me a new file for the documents.. Imagine if it was an emergency?! And with no documents I'll be lacking of proper documentation to get in the EU. Will I have to buy another insure from a different agent and company?! I'm trying to figure it out..

I submitted a claim and I didn't even get a response or reply of any kind. I followed all their protocols, submitted all the documents. It was a simple outpatient claim, for less than 500 dollars, and they couldn't even deal with that. Wouldn't trust my life on them. What if I really needed the insurance for something more serious? Like some accident?
Not recommended at all! Look for reliable insurance somewhere else!

International Medical Group Patriot International Lite
In addition to substantial initial confusion over whether or not spouse coverage was included, the pre-existing condition clause of this policy is unusually draconian. Under their example, medical coverage would not be provided for a heart attack if the company could show that it was caused by arteries which were clogged prior to purchase of the policy, even if the customer was unaware of the problem. More importantly, emergency evacuation for that heart attack would not be covered if they could avoid covering the medical problem. Our trip was canceled by the tour company so evacuation coverage did not matter, but I will never again purchase a policy from IMG.

I feel the rate for a customer of my (advanced) age is way too high, and will severely impact upon my decision for future travel and/or insurance coverage. I realize insurance companies need to make a profit, and a big one at that, but preferably not always on the backs of its senior customers. I have yet to see real comparison figures of calamities of elderly travelers and younger lower-rate-paying travelers. My hunch is not great differences as the elderly provide better self care, and less risk taking.

The proof of a plan is what happened when you need it, not just when you purchase it and don't have a claim. I feel this plan is too costly. It appeared to cover our major concerns for travel but again the proof is in what happens when you need it. I accidentally called the Claim phone number last year when I had a question and the representative had an attitude of being irritated to be bothered -- instead of wanting to help me, she wanted to make it difficult -- it was like I feared it would be and when she realised I had just called the wrong number with a general question, she still maintained her "you're getting little to no help from me" attitude. I hope she was the exception but how would anyone know?
