Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Nationwide does not consider the quarantine of an entire country due COVID-19 a valid claim. W were half into our trip when Norway closed all borders to entry to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Now Nationwide wants proof I was denied entry. Do I need a picture of me trying to cross the border? Forget appealing the ruling unless you in a select 12 few states where you can appeal to the Insurance commission. In the other 38 states it seems Nationwide is judge and jury. I certainly do not understand the great reviews of this terrible coverage.

You really are money grabbers, that's all that matters. You know the trip was cancelled, yet send a message asking about the trip. Your mission statement must be: we have their premium, now do everything to avoid paying a claim. We filed, you knew you would not cover covid, we were sent jumping through hoops, then denied the claim. Mission accomplished! We will discourage any and all from generali.

    Dear Valued Customer,

We appreciate your feedback. Please see the response provided by Generali in regards to your review:

"We’re sorry the coverage didn’t meet your expectation. As stated in our policy documents, our plans only reimburse for non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs if you need to cancel your trip for a covered reason. Generali Global Assistance plans do not offer coverage if you cancel your trip due to fear of traveling due to Coronavirus, unless you added Trip Cancellation for Any Reason coverage. However, our plans can help if you are diagnosed with Coronavirus before or during your trip. You just need to meet the standard requirements for coverage due to sickness, and our plans can assist you with Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Travel Delay, Medical & Dental, and Emergency Assistance & Transportation. It is important that you review your Description of Coverage, which are available before and after your purchase. We take the claims process very seriously and want our customers to make informed choices when purchasing travel insurance."

GeoBlue Trekker Essential
Early in August, I filed a claim for slightly less than $200 and submitted all necessary supporting materials. To date (Oct 3), I've received no information on the claim from GeoBlue. When I looked up the claim via the internet, the claim file indicated that the amount claimed was subject to a deductible, hence no payment. I was unaware of a deductible, but that's on me. What I don't like is the utter lack of communication.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
I was injured on my trip (March 7, 2020) and filed a claim immediately (March 9, 2020). C&F was very helpful in arranging repatriation so that I could return home for orthopedic surgery. In order to get home, they said I had to pay for the flights and was told to submit the claim, which I did timely. I still have not been reimbursed for the trip interruption claim. I have called and emailed numerous times. When I call, I'm on hold for at least 45 minutes.I really have been given the runaround. When requested, I submitted any follow-up documentation immediately. My claims analyst does not email or answer my calls. Last thing I was told was that my claim is in final payment review but it's been 5 weeks since I was told that for the 2nd time. I'm at my wits end with this company. I know that COVID delayed things but I filed my claim early in the COVID crises and my claims has nothing to do with COVID. I hope someone from Insure My Trip can help with this claim. I would not buy insurance from this company again.
UPDATE: My claim was finally paid but it took a lot of effort. After numerous calls and several months, a supervisor finally contacted me and the claim issue was resolved. There was one minor issue holding up the claim and if they had contacted me initially, it would have been easily resolved. I had sent them the correct documentation but they had a question and could have easily emailed or called me.

We purchased a policy online for an upcoming trip. When I called to ask about the policy I was just told it was a good policy and what I needed to travel out of the country. Due to an unforeseen medical condition we were forced to cancel our trip. I filed a claim right away following all instructions given to file the claim. Imagine my surprise when the claim was denied. Apparently ours was one of the excluded reasons in fine print 20 pages into the policy booklet. I feel this company was deceitful and not helpful. They were willing to take my money for the policy but not willing to reimburse me.

GeoBlue Voyager Choice
I did not file a claim so I have no way of knowing whether the coverage was good or not. I don't even know if I was covered for anything. That is my fault. I should have called when I couldn't find the answers in the policy. A better explanation of "Primary Coverage Required" would be appreciated.

This is a good opportunity for us to advise you that detailed information is available to you within the quote. You can click on "View Certificate" to read through the entire plan or you can click on "Primary Coverage Required" to be directed right to that section of the policy.

The GeoBlue Voyager Choice plan only allows travelers with primary health insurance in the United States to purchase the policy. The Underwriters define a Primary Plan as a Group Health Benefit Plan, an individual health benefit plan, or certain governmental health plan (including Medicare Supplements and Medicare Advantage plans) designed to be the first payor of claims for an Insured Person prior to the responsibility of this Plan. Although Medicare does qualify as primary coverage, Medicaid and Veterans Administration health benefit plans do not.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
The airline lost our luggage, and when I called a representative, they said I had to wait 24 hours to buy any basic needs, which was quite frustrating. Also, any claims of lost baggage required a sales slip for all items. Why would I have a sales slip from five years ago? Representative refused to put any pressure on airline to locate luggage.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that your luggage was delayed during the trip. The AXA Assistance USA Gold plan requires a 24 hour delay for the Baggage Delay benefit. The Baggage Delay benefit provides reimbursement for the purchase of necessary personal effects, up to the benefit limits set forth in the policy. All travel insurance providers require receipts of the necessary personal effects purchased as a result of the delay.

InsureMyTrip offers plans from different travel insurance providers which require a 12 hour delay for the Baggage Delay benefit. In the future, please consider calling InsureMyTrip prior to purchasing so that we can help you find a policy that best fits your needs and/or explain policy benefits. Our representatives are available 7 days a week by calling 800-487-4722.

We are sorry to hear that your baggage was lost. The AXA Assistance USA Gold Policy requires that the baggage is delayed for a full 24 hours before the Baggage Delay benefit can be utilized. In the event that the airline is not able to recover your lost luggage, the policy does allow for a claim under the Baggage/Personal Effects benefit without receipts and reads as follows: For items over .00 in value which have been lost or stolen, you must provide documentation of the original purchase price. If the original receipt is not available, benefits will be calculated based upon the Actual Cash Value (cost less proper deduction for depreciation value) at the time of loss. Please accept our apology if this was not explained clearly by the representative and caused confusion. Because we are not directly affiliated with the airline, we are limited in what we can do in order to expedite locating your luggage.

I had the same thing happen to me as well and it was extremely frustrating. I was eventually paid by the airline, but the insurance that I had purchased never would approve the claim. Once the airlines had reimbursed my loss, I dropped the issue and did not pursue anything with the insurance. It taught me a valuable lesson. 1. I make sure I read the fine print on baggage coverage. 2. I take photos of my baggage at the ticket counter as it's being laid on the conveyer belt, and usually I'll include a picture of the Airline agent as well. 3. I have a photo shot of my belongings in that suitcase.
It may sound like a lot of work, but it really isn't. But it’s the only action I know I can take to protect myself. When your bag is either missing, stolen or damaged, they’re first to point the finger at someone else and thus the games begin. You’ll spend a lot of your time explaining the same story over and over to different people throughout the whole process.
It took me nearly 27 days to get the airliner to send me a check to replace the items including the suitcase. Some people thought that was quick and others thought that it was really slow. I really do not know the correct answer.
I now get insurance on my trips, but I carefully read the details of the insurance policy and if I have a question, I will usually write an email to have someone explain it to me. If I am unable too, I move on to another insurance company. I hope this helps others.
