Global Alert! Preferred Plus
I cancelled my trip the morning before my flight and Global Alert would not refund my money even though I provided proof of cancellation and did not file any claims. I would not use this company again for any future trips that I have planned.

    Unfortunately you must cancel your trip before the departure date on your policy and show proof of no claims and no penalties to be able to use this policy for another trip. If you had canceled within the 10 day free look you would've received your monies back less the administration fee.

I filed multiple claims with extensive documentation. They chose to barely communicate with me. Every time I called them on the phone they said they prefer to do communication via postal mail (letters). It took an extremely long time to get any information or decision from them. They generally refused to respond to emails and their phone representatives don't have much information or resources available to them.

In the end they denied most of my claims without reason. They did pay out one of my claims eventually, but they did not notify me about it via email. I just noticed a wire transfer from them my bank statement and contacted them about it and they confirmed it was them. I didn't bother to continue appealing for my denied claims because they take so long to respond and I have better things to do.

Due to very poor communication and customer service, I would not recommend them.

I ended up not going. After getting the run a round about who to file a claim with for the cancellation for any reason because I was told I was one day late---then when I spoke with the agent about getting a cancellation due to medical reasons because I had 8 appointments at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, I was told i needed to get proof that I had medical reasons, the problems, and the reason that my appointments were required to take place during the time I was supposed to travel.

I have had more pleasant experiences with other companies and I will return to using other companies for my next trip.

You guys blew it!

    The number one covered reason for Trip Cancellation on the John Hancock Insurance Agency, Inc. Gold plan is an:

    "Accidental Injury, Sickness or death of You, Your Traveling Companion, Your Family Member, or Your
    Business Partner; which results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of loss preventing Your participation or continued participation in the Covered Trip. A Physician must advise cancellation of the Covered Trip on or before the Scheduled Departure Date."

    In order to receive reimbursement for your covered trip cost, you must complete and submit a Trip Cancellation claim from to the claim administrator. A section of the claim from must be completed and signed by the treating physician because the trip was cancelled due to medical reason. This is industry standard protocol. After filing a claim for a cancelled trip, our experience with this company was terrible. We continually had to call them to track the claim and every time they would say we needed to send more paperwork. Some receipts we sent them 4 times. We even had one of the tour operators email us to ask why they kept asking him for the same information. It took about 6 months for us to get about half of our money back. The one good thing I will say is about InsureMyTrip, who stepped in to help us at one point and were great to deal with.

    We are sorry to learn that you were dissatisfied with the claims service. We apologize on behalf of the claims administrator that your claim took an unusually long time to process, and that you were repeatedly asked to provide documentation that had already been submitted. Depending upon the complexity of the claim, and how readily available the claims documentation is, claims processing should take anywhere between 3-8 weeks.

when you call they act like it’s a problem they want to tell you how many times you called l wouldn’t call if my issue was resolved in a timely manner each time I’ve called my claim is being processed I sent over supporting paper work 11/18 was told on 11/25 additional documents were needed they didn’t tell me I figured it out myself and allow 15 days for processing they really mean allow 30 days for processing when a person has a surgery what more needs to be discussed give them a refund it’s already nerve racking enough you didn’t take 30 days to receive my money oh and the customer service rep Andrew is terrible no type of customer service or compassion you are clearly in the wrong field sir never again will I use this company and will tell all my friends and members of my travel group the same

Biggest scam ever. I’ve now informed others that travel insurance is very limiting. Explained that even with CDC concerns in regards to flight travel to Asian countries, I would’ve ONLY been covered had I traveled and become quarantined....false securities is all travel insurance is.

I finally after more than five months managed to get most of my money back from a trip canceled in January. I became sick, had to return home and have been jerked around like you wouldn't believe. Even though I had verification of my claim, they made me repeatedly resend information they already had. The supervisor of [Name Removed] wasn't cooperative. She was actually rude. I was on the verge of tears many times----couldn't believe what I had to go through. I am getting the majority of expenses returned through much effort on my part. This company isn't honest and really puts one through the paces to get any positive action. I will never use them again and neither will any of my friends if I can help it. Thank you for listening, or should I say reading. InsureMyTrip was very helpful in getting results and explaining things to me. No human being should have had to go through what I did.

Travelex Travel Select
Travelex was a total waste of money for us. Our airline changed time of connecting flight which we purchased as one reservation and one booking number (not even notifying us). We were told about it when we came to the airport. We missed connecting flight and had to buy airline ticket on different airline at the Bangkok airport to continue our trip. It wasn't out fault at all. It wasn't refunded by Travelex.

      The Travel Select plan you purchased is a Named Peril Policy, meaning the policy outlines the coverage included and if the reason for trip interruption, missed cruise connection, and/or trip delay is not listed, coverage does not apply. The Description of Coverage was emailed to you on October 30, 2017 at 7:57pm, when the policy was purchased.

      If the airline did not provide you with notice that your flight schedule had been changed, or the change made it impossible for you to make the connecting flight, we recommend contacting the airline, by emailing the airline’s claim department, to request reimbursement for the out of pocket expenses you incurred as a result of the change.

      We empathize with your unfortunate situation; however, we trust that you understand that based on the terms and conditions of the protection plan purchased, and the information you presented, the reason for your request for reimbursement is not covered."
