I had spent hours on the computer trying to find some company which would insure me for my trip to the Antarctic before I was directed to InsureMyTrip. I was either too old, (I am 70), or the Antarctic was considered a too remote place or as I was living in Italy, it was the wrong country. Getting the insurance was really easy. However I didn't file a claim so I'm not sure how HCC actually works. I had a longer term policy and the most frustrating thing was that HCC requires you to call in for just about everything, so if you're overseas it can be really difficult or expensive since there just aren't that many land line phones around.

It's good to have peace of mind to have coverage just in case something does go wrong, which happened on the first trip I ever insured. I was able to redo the trip the next year and had no problems or cost to rebook.

The process on buying this plan is good, other than that don't know too much about it.
It's a peace of mind to have a trip insurance. We were lucky to return home safely without instance. We wouldn't know how good this coverage is until we need to file a claim - how difficult and how much we could get covered, etc,; hopefully we never need to do it.

It's worth it for the peace of mind, if nothing else, given the nominal cost of coverage vs. the cost of the trip. And consider it for any trip out of the country, even long weekends in Mexico or Caribbean. After getting insurance for BIG trips to Africa, etc., I skipped it for a Cancun weekend, and guess where I needed emergency surgery?

I looked at many different possibilities including those offered by our personal homeowner's company and two recommended by our highly rated tour provider among others. All of them cost about three times the CSA coverage, which was just as comprehensive ... I was very impressed with the reviews of how well CSA handled claims, so we happily went with CSA and had no worries about our trip.
