Generali Global Assistance Standard
My wife had what "they" called a pre-existing condition. She had a balance problem for years that was well under control at the time we made the reservations. However, about one month prior to departure her condition worsened. She was afraid of falling and her doctor, after extensive evaluations, strongly recommended we cancel the cruise. The insurance refused to pay a single cent, but kept my premium. Guess there is nothing you can do.

    We did contact Generali for a status report on your claim. Your claim for reimbursement for your share of the Trip Cost was denied due to the preexisting condition exclusion listed in the policy:

    "PRE-EXISTING CONDITION means a Sickness or Injury during the 180-day period immediately prior to your
    effective date for which you or your Traveling Companion:
    (1) received, or received a recommendation for, a diagnostic test, examination, or medical treatment; or
    (2) took or received a prescription for drugs or medicine.
    Item 2 of this definition does not apply to a condition which is treated or controlled solely through the taking
    of prescription drugs or medicine and remains treated or controlled without any adjustment or change in the required prescription throughout the 180-day period before coverage
    is effective under this Policy.

    However, your wife's claim was denied because you neglected to cover her under the policy. The policy was purchased only for you.

I bought this insurance way back last Fall 2017. I am getting older with a failing memory to what i had done or where I even put my notes. I had to go to my credit card bills to find the phone number, call and cross check what I had done. I would suggest that as trip time approaches, an email from you telling me what I had done and that I WAS insured with you would have been VERY HELPFUL! Even two or three reminders asking if I had any questions or concerns like 3 months in advance, two months before and then a week before.

Due to a medical emergency requiring surgery, I had to cancel this trip one week before the trip was to begin. The process of filing a claim for the $300 change fee on the airline ticket was extremely detailed, requiring over a dozen separate items AND an 11-question section to be completed by the physician. To ask a busy surgeon to do such paperwork, beyond providing a written excuse on his prescription pad (which he had already done), seemed unrealistic.

Ultimately, we decided not to pursue the claim because of the hassle and the amount of money at stake. In >30 years of traveling with travel insurance, this was our first encounter with the claims-filing process, and it has made us reconsider whether such insurance is worth having.

BTW, I shared all of this information with an agent for the company and never received a response.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
We needed to cancel our trip at the last minute for medical reasons. We sent the claim on Friday, July 20th the claim was logged into the system on Monday, July 23rd and processed with the check mailed on July 26th. We received the check for the full amount of the claim on Monday, July 30th. The claim was processed expeditiously and professionally with minimal forms.
