Purchased the plan and sure enough, I had to take my son to the doctor three days after being overseas. I contacted the phone number and had a great service, providing help with the symptoms and making sure that my son was ok...they kept calling for two days to make sure everything was fine.....the problem is when trying to get the claim processed: It's been 6 weeks since I submitted everything online and there hasn't been any contact from the company. I've sent messages to my AIG Adjuster (J. Crivello) using the online system and haven't get any answer. Based solely on this lack of service I don't recommend that you buy this insurance. If they take this long to process a claim for $100 dollars, you really don't want to try them with something more serious and expensive. What a disappointment, don't buy this insurance

    We apologize for the slowness of the communication from the AIG Travel Guard Claims Department. This is definitely not their usual standard of service. Despite this frustration, we were very glad to hear that you received full reimbursement for your medical claim.

I could have used my own medical plan for Alaska. I was only out of the country 2 days and someone should have recommended something cheaper. It was too costly for what I needed. Now I know differently.

While it is true your primary health care provider may have been able to provide coverage during the U.S. portion of your trip, the Global Alert Preferred plan you purchased is a comprehensive package plan that offers much more than medical care and provides you coverage from the moment you leave your home until the moment you return back to your home. The Global Alert Preferred policy offers Trip Cancellation, Trip Interruption, Baggage Loss, Baggage Delay, Travel Delay, Emergency Medical, Emergency Medical Evacuation, Financial Default, and a Pre-Existing Condition Waiver. Additionally, premium is typically within the range of 4-10% of the trip cost and is determined by the following factors: the length of the trip, the cost of the trip, and the ages of the travelers. WE were ill on our trip - covid - tried to access our Interruption coverage to stay few extra days but found thru many many calls that we needed a qualified test.

WELL THIS IS WHERE BARRIER IS - GETTING QUALIFED TEST IN Canada and foreign countries is just not available any longer as out of "pandemic" times it seems.
Believe me- i tried it all and am a RN so know who to call. Hospitals, hotel, pharmacies, more hospitals - most spoke only French - to no AVAIL.

Thank goodness we had enough of home meds and could stay extra to clear isolation days and not be communicable any longer so that was good as didnt want to make others sick.

THIS IS A PROB and I will be tellling everyine I know about travel insurance BARRIERS.

WE pay premium in earnest- and should not be this hard to obtain our coverage.

I am so dissapointed as have used Insure my Trip for years. and many travel trips.

We purchased the insurance for my husband and myself on the day we booked our flights. The next morning, I called to ask about a specific coverage and was told to email my question to the customer claims. I got an immediate response that an answer could take 21 days. It has now been 35 days since I emailed claims and have received no response. We took the trip and didn't need to put in a claim-----however, if they don't answer a simple question I can only imagine how long it would take for them to pay a claim. Won't use this company again.

I tried calling you to cancel the insurance because I had to cancel my trip due to coronavirus; no one answering my calls. Very disappointed with your company. Would not use it again or recommend it.

Very slow review time....sent in mid Jan and reviewing info mid Feb...burdensome process with ridiculous requests of proof that should be an easy, simple, well documented claim to process (e.g. want bank statement proof vs vendor showing paid in full, want airline letter vs app text proving flight cancellation)....stall techniques to wear the consumer down do they don't pay the claim....seems to be in the business to deny what is right and fair and WELL DOCUMENTED!!!

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
Purchased plan to be reimbursed for cruise ports if missed. Plan did not cover this and was I not given the proper information before purchasing the policy that this was not covered. Very disappointed. Will purchase future policy with another company that has covered this in the past.

    Thank you for your feedback. You did purchase the Nationwide Essentials policy which does not cover missed ports. However, coverage for missed ports would have been provided under one of the Nationwide Cruise plans.

    Generali Global Assistance, as do most companies, calculates your Comprehensive premium based on age of traveler, cost of trip and length of trip. In general, you should expect a plan will cost anywhere from 4%-10% of your total pre-paid, nonrefundable trip cost. For example, if you purchased a trip with a total cost of 5000 USD, travel insurance policies available to you will likely range in price from 200-500 USD, depending on variables.

First of all, reviews from people who did not "have to file a claim" are practically useless, since the claim process and trying to get a claim paid is where the problem arises.
I submitted a clearly covered claim for a trip including a cruise and roundtrip non-refundable airfare, with the required proofs of payment, unused tickets and cancellation notice from the cruise. The claim for the cruise was paid, but I had not cancelled my air ticket assuming no need since it was non-refundable (and the airline already had my money). Besides, I paid a higher premium for my insurance so airfare would be covered. WRONG! The airfare claim was denied.
I'm not sure everyone knows you need to actually cancel your ticket and get a "cancellation notice"(?) from the airline to have a claim paid. A no-show doesn't count. This is not clear in the policy rules.
Considering the claim process hassle, I'm not sure I will insure for airfare in the future.
