great having that piece of mind as we had another cruise passenger that had to be taken off the ship in Mexico and I don't know if they had any additional coverage. I was thinking the whole time glad I had this extra policy as that could have been me.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Choice Cruise
On advice from a colleague from work, we insured our Disney cruise through InsureMyTrip. It was cheaper than insuring through Disney. Less than a week before the cruise, a member of the travel party had a medical issue that caused us to miss the cruise. I submitted a claim which was processed and the reimbursement was received within one month. The documentation requirements were clearly outlined in the email I received as a result of my claim submission.

It took some time to gather all the required documentation but it was more than worth it as the entire cost of the cruise was reimbursed. I normally don't insure trips but I will do so going forward and will use InsureMyTrip.

Travelex Travel Basic
We were covered for a cruise with a 2 hour flight from our hometown to/from the cruiseport. We were to fly in the morning of the cruise. The day before we were to leave, our flight was cancelled for the next morning due to predicted uber cold weather. The airline put us on a flight that evening, so we were forced to stay in a hotel near the cruiseport. The insurance covered the cost of the hotel. The thing I'd like to point out is that I'd purchased the insurance for the original date. The insurance company was able to think outside the box and cover our hotel, even though the date wasn't within the original time frame of the trip. Kudos to them! The claim took about a week to process once the company had my documentation. Refund is by check.

Generali Global Assistance Preferred
We filed three claims - Trip Interruption, Trip Delay, and Medical. The paperwork was somewhat intense! My first package was 22 pages long. Be prepared to PROVE: 1) Who you are (Drivers License/passport) 2) Proof of payment (Not JUST invoices) like canceled checks or Credit Card Statements. 3) Carrier Invoices 4) Documentation from Carrier showing date of delay and reason for delay (Airline Customer service has form letter they send).
Once the paperwork is assembled and received in Claims everything went very well. We spoke to our adjuster and corresponded with her on a couple of questions. We are very pleased with that.
We completed the entire process and was paid via check on all 3 claims inside of 60 days total.
Note that Trip Interruption has a limit of $200 per day per person, If you are in a hotel for multiple days your claim needs to split that up into a per day cost. We actually had two hotel days but our receipt didn't detail that so it looked like one day which pushed us over the limit that one day. I would insure with this company again!

TripAssure Advantage Asset
Even though I have never had to file a claim, we always get travel insurance when we go on a major trip or cruise. It simply gives us peace of mind in the event something happens that we end up having to cancel because of work or illness. It also gives us peace of mind during our trip knowing we have the insurance in case something happens during our trip.
