AXA Assistance USA Platinum
When we make major trips, we always buy this same policy because it offers the coverage we need at a very competitive price. We did not have any claims on our last trip but we did on the one immediately previous to the last one. Those claims were paid promptly when I provided the property documentation. Travel insurance is very important coverage and a comprehensive policy like this one covers us against the most dire of circumstances - medical evacuation and medical care. Were an event to occur, we could quickly find ourselves in significant debt to pay those expenses. We think that insuring against those possibilities is the prudent decision.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
I purchase a plan every year for our vacation through insuremytrip, but never leave a review, since you can only rate a company IF something goes wrong. Well, this year it did, and I must say that I was extremely happy with AXA and the service they provided. They contacted me overseas as soon as they found out I was ill, and started the paperwork to arrange direct payment to the hospital where I was. Unfortunately, since it was the weekend, and with the time difference, their approval did not arrive before I left the hospital on a Sunday afternoon, so I had to pay for the charges with my credit card. I filed my claim upon my return, and I did make sure it was complete with copies of all receipts and medical information. I received my payment in full within 2 weeks, well ahead of their 30 day window. I guess I was glad I got a "gold" plan where the plan is the primary payer for medical bills, and not secondary, or I would have had to wait to file a claim with my own insurance company...and they are slower than molasses on a winter's day. Also, some of the AXA reps, such as Victoria, were terrific, and gave excellent service, even while I was stuck in an overseas hospital. All in all, they came through when I needed them, and that is the true measure of any plan to purchase (ALL companies take your premiums with no problems, but will they pay when you have an issue???). I have always purchased through insuremytrip, but now I will also ensure that I always purchase an AXA gold plan, because of the excellent processing of my claim. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Universal Cruise
I ended up putting Nationwide to the test by having to file a cancellation claim late in the game as a result of unanticipated knee surgery. Nationwide lived up to their end of the contract in an exemplary way. Filing was simple. All that was required was filling out a short form with one paragraph for the doctor. The claim was processed quickly and paid promptly. I don't see how it could have been handled any better. I really hated to have to cancel this cruise but it was great to have this cruise specific Nationwide policy covering my risk.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
Although the fine print of the policy would eliminate my claim, I must emphasize that the coverage such as Trip Delays are very limited and failed to pay for late receipt of luggage by the airline during transfer and clearance through customs. This cost us over $300 and was excluded by the coverage. One previous claim was also not paid by CSA and this makes me question their real concern for fair coverage of the client versus their desire for greater profit as a company. I WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU TRY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND EVERY WORD OF THE COVERAGE BEFORE ENROLLING.

Unfortunately, the plan you purchased is not able to provide coverage for every event that might cause your trip to be interrupted or delayed, though it does include approximately 20 different covered events that can qualify for Trip Interruption coverage and approximately 10 different covered events that can qualify for Travel Delay coverage (depending on your state of residence). We understand your trip was delayed due to receiving your luggage late in your connecting city. Unfortunately this is not a covered reason for either coverage. GoReady Insurance Choice Family Plan
I purchased travel insurance, including a cancel-for-any-reason rider, with April Travel Protection. When circumstances required me to use the insurance, the staff at April Travel handled my phone calls and e-mails promptly, professionally, politely, and kindly. The requirements to file a claim were clearly explained, and forms were emailed to me immediately thereafter. Upon submission, the paperwork was addressed quickly, and a check was received by me in less than 30 days. With other events occurring in life, it was a relief to have our insurance claim handled so expertly by such a reputable and reliable company. Without hesitation, I highly recommend insuring a trip with April Travel Protection. I will absolutely use them again in the future.
