Since it was not necessary to file a claim, I could not tell if the TravelSafe Classic plan was good. Prior experience with InsureMyTrip made me comfortable in knowing that I would be taken care of by TravelSafe in the event a problem occurred. Due to a personal tragedy at home my wife and I interrupted a cruise and returned home at the next port. The claim form and related documentation requested by AXA Assistance USA was emailed to their claims office on December 9th. On December 14th, I received an email from the claims adjuster confirming approval of the claim and that the payment check would be received in 10 to 15 business days. Based on my experience I would highly recommend this company.

The claim that we made was processed fairly, but not promptly. I would suggest that anyone that is taking out a policy to obtain the medical treatment form before going on a trip since that appeared to be one of the major points of dispute with getting reimbursed. The provider just was not very willing to accept the medical statement that was provided from the ship. The second point is that one must be aware of the provisions of the policy and be prepared to remind, several times, what the contract of insurance actually states to the provider. Otherwise, the carrier will not seem to be aware what certain terms like "spouse" and "occupied same cabin" means in continually requesting the same information.

Since I didn't have to use the plan, I can't say anything about the Travelex Travel Select plan. I'm assuming the product would have come to the rescue if a claim was necessary. However, that is all hypothetical. I'll continue to use your service until I have a reason to go elsewhere.

We purchased plan for additional evacuation coverage. However we had to cancel trip 3 days before leaving, but didn't file claim because reason was not covered. Fortunately we also had a great cancel-for-any- reason policy from Holland America that refunded 90% pf cruise/flights and 100% of tours.

Insurance was required by the tour company we were traveling with. Fortunately we did not have any accidents and did not have to utilize the insurance. However, someone else in the tour group did. It was reassuring to us to know we had the insurance just in case. One big thing to remember though is that this is a reimbursement policy, you have to pay for any services needed up front from your own resources, then get paid back...hopefully.

Unfortunately, your request to cancel the policy came outisde of the 10 day free look period so you were unable to receive a full refund of premium. However, AXA Assistance USA provided a pro-rated refund of premium under the following clause, "You have the right to cancel the Policy at any time by giving advance notice to Our Agent or Us (stating when thereafter the cancellation shall be effective). We will refund any unearned premium to You within 10 days of cancellation."
