These plans are a sham. I came down with a bad cold in Gunten. We cut our stay short and returned to Paris a day early. Chills fever stuffed up nose aches and pains. The Swiss hotel would not refund the second nights stay, and because I didn’t go to a Dr I can’t file a claim. It’s BS.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We hope that fellow customers will find your review and our response to be educational and informative.

We are sorry to learn of the illness that you suffered while traveling. On this plan, Trip Interruption covers: "Your or a Family Member’s or a Traveling Companion’s or a Business Partner’s or a Child Caregiver’s covered Sickness or Injury which: a) occurs while You are on Your Trip, b) requires Medical Treatment at the time of interruption resulting in medically imposed restrictions, as certified by a Legally Qualified Physician, and c) prevents Your continued participation on Your Trip;"

Unfortunately, with all plans offered on our website, if you do not get documentation from a physician that you cannot continue your trip, you would not have coverage under Trip Interruption.

If you have any questions about coverage, please call us at 800-487-4722 to discuss travel insurance products offered by InsureMyTrip. We are open 7 days a week, and all of our representatives are licensed insurance agents.

My flight was cancelled a few hours before midnight of the day we were supposed to travel. Because of the timing, the plan declined to cover for travel delay or interruption. Apart from medical coverage or a cancellation while we were on the way to the airport, this plan is filled with loopholes - doesn't really cover much and was quite expensive for my family.

Iberia had system down to connect with Madrid in Nice to print the 2nd. boarding pass so we had to request 2nd. boarding pass at connection in Madrid.
When we arrived in Madrid we tried to find Iberia desk but we didn't make on time because was far apart from the gate so we lost our flight to Miami. We had to overnight in Madrid in order to take next day flight. CSA said this is not covered our dinner and hotel for that night that we requested.

Thank you for providing your feedback on this plan.

Each benefit under a plan will have a set number of covered events in which that benefit will cover. For the CSA Custom plan, their travel delay benefit would cover events such as a "delay of a common carrier, loss or theft of a passport or travel documents, natural disasters or adverse weather or unannounced strike."

We recommend that you call us when planning your next trip so we are able to assist you in finding the right plan. We are available 7 days a week at 1-800-487-4722.

We’re sorry to hear your trip was delayed and apologize for not meeting your expectations. We take customer service and the claims review process very seriously and cannot stress enough to our customers that it is important they review the coverage details of our plans via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions you may have. The plan you purchased can provide coverage for reasonable, additional expenses such as meals and accommodations incurred during a delay of six hours or more resulting from a flight delay and other specific covered events. Unfortunately, Travel Delay cannot typically provide reimbursement for delays resulting from the airline’s inability to print boarding passes. If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at the number or email provided above.

My wife has a mostly controlled medical condition. The reason you did not pay for our needed cancellation is, in my opinion, buried on page 12 of 14 of your policy. I'm out the money for the trip and the money I paid your company. This is not the type of policy one should buy on line.

When my husband's wallet was stolen in Paris I called the insurance company number to see if they could offer any help and was to receive a claim report via email which was never received. There wasn't much help they could actually provide other than offering to loan some cash, which we didn't need.

My big problem with the Plan was that it was unclear what coverage I had under the plan. As a senior citizen on medicare and medigap, with very good insurance in the U.S., I wanted to be well covered for serious heath problems arising overseas. For example, what if I had a heart attack or a stroke in France? I think I paid a lot of money, but I really felt the only way I would understand the quality of coverage I had was if I became ill. I feel that Generali should be able to clearly communicate in a much better way the coverage the customer is entitled to.

If you are considering this company, make sure you fully understand their definition of 'pre-existing conditions'. This company has a 180 look-back history. I didn't know what that meant until I had to file a claim and was denied. Here's what look-back means: any condition evaluated or treated 180 days PRIOR to purchase. "Underlying conditions" is also part of this definition. I lost a lot of $$$ not fully understanding the definitions. Next time I have to buy travel insurance, I will DEFINITELY go to great lengths to understand every aspect of the policy.

We’re sorry to hear about the circumstances surrounding your claim. We take customer service very seriously and, as you mention, cannot stress enough that it is important to review the coverage details of our plans via the sample Description of Coverage/Insurance Policy that’s provided at the time of purchase, and contact us at (800) 348-9505 or via email at [email protected] with any additional questions you may have. We have dedicated Customer Service Representatives on staff who can help answer questions and guide you towards the best coverages. We also offer a free look back period with all of our plans to allow customers to cancel their policies within a designated period as long as they haven't already left on their trip or filed a claim. As you’ve said in your review, the plan you purchased is unable to provide coverage for any losses resulting from Pre-Existing Medical Conditions. Our Custom Luxe plan can provide coverage for such losses provided the plan is purchased prior to or within 24 hours of final trip payment, if other requirements outlined in the Description of Coverage/Policy are met. If you have additional questions or concerns, please reach out to us at the number or email provided above.

Although I should have known this a long time ago, I just discovered that my MasterCard provides similar coverage free-of-charge. There's really no reason to purchase this kind of insurance for a trip like the one we did. Talking to your staff several times was extremely instructive, and I'm grateful to you for what I learned. But I'm doubtful I will buy this insurance again.

Thank you for yuor feedback on the policy. The below response has been issued by CSA Travel Protection:

"We’re sorry to hear you were not satisfied with the travel insurance you purchased. Credit cards may provide coverage for fewer instances than specialized travel insurance, and they usually offer lower limits. In addition, your card’s coverage will most likely not cover anyone else traveling with you. It’s important you check these details as our plans can cover up to 10 travelers, so we can protect your travel companions too. Feel free to call us to discuss your situation further. Thank you."

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
The quality of insurance is not what it SAYS are the benefits but what it DOES when you need the benefits. Previously, I'd rated this insurance as really good based on a fair price and answering my questions when I called. However, this time my luggage was lost by the airline on the way back home. Despite having a lost luggage policy, C&F indicated that they would only pay out after I had settled my claim with the airline and only if the airline didn't fully cover the cost of the lost items. Meanwhile, the airline wouldn't begin to settle my claim until the luggage had been missing for 21 days. When I inquired with C&F about coverage for delayed luggage--until my luggage was recovered or declared lost--I was informed that this was not applicable for luggage lost on the way home. They were unsympathetic to the fact that most of my winter clothes and shoes were in the lost luggage (as it was a two-week trip). According to the fine print, one had to request a claims form via USPS, which took over two weeks to arrive. When I called after not receiving it, I was told I could download it online via a website, but it turned out one needed a log-in code (which I didn't have) to access the document. In general, I felt the company was doing everything possible to discourage me from filing a claim.
As my luggage was ultimately found (shortly after being declared officially lost) and returned to me after 30 days, I never needed to file the claim with C&F. But it has left a bad taste in my mouth, and I don't intend to use C&F again, even if they are the less-expensive option.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn of the unfortunate baggage delay that occurred during your trip.

Comprehensive plans are designed to cover as many risks as possible, but is very rare for any insurance plan to cover all possible risks. The C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus plan is a Comprehensive plan which covers a wide range of perils and hazards. Unfortunately, it was determined that your baggage was delayed on the return home. The travel insurance industry standard is to cover baggage delay only on outbound travel.

We appreciate you using InsureMyTrip for your travel insurance needs. As a travel insurance comparison website, InsureMyTrip offers dozens of plans from different providers. In the future, please consider calling us prior to purchasing a plan so that we can assist you in selecting the most cost effective policy that covers as many of your primary concerns as possible. Our toll free telephone number is 800-487-4722. We look forward to assisting you in the future.

HTH Worldwide TravelGap Excursion
I ended up in a hospital with a broken back after a ski accident, and at first the advice nurse they got me in contact with was great. But then when it came time to try to get HTH to provide evidence of insurance, they refused because I had purchased the policy while not in the US (there's a clause that says insurance must be purchased before the trip begins -- I didn't interpret that as "any time you leave the US you're beginning a single trip that lasts until you get back"). While I was in the hospital, they basically shut down any appeal by saying "you can't appeal until you've filed a claim, which we'll reject". In the end, my US insurance gave me pretty good coverage, so I was OK, but it drives me crazy that they'd use the IP address of the computer I was on when I purchased the policy to deny me coverage, but *not* to prevent me from buying the useless policy!

There are a number of important factors related to “when and where” HTH Worldwide issues our insurance policies.

Firstly, TravelGap Excursion is available to U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents traveling outside of the United States. The plan is available for customers purchasing in approved U.S. states. HTH Worldwide does not hold licenses to sell insurance products outside of the United States. As such, in certain circumstances it can be a violation of foreign insurance law to issue a policy when a customer is already overseas.

Secondly, TravelGap Excursion is unique because it covers pre-existing medical conditions up to the policy maximum.. In order to offer such comprehensive benefits, it is important that customers buy the insurance prior to trip departure. If HTH were not to enforce this requirement, we could be adversely selected against. Some travelers could potentially wait until they became sick or injured before they purchased a plan.

Finally, HTH Worldwide offers a refund of premium for customers who are ineligible for TravelGap Excursion. If you have not received a refund, please contact HTH Worldwide.
