Filing a claim is the only way one can judge an insurance company. Unfortunately, my trip was cancelled secondary to snowy conditions. Getting the claim paid was an adventure in itself. I had just about enough when they insisted that they need my 8 year old's signature! The claim finally got paid when I threatened to file a complaint with government agencies.

As one gets older, the cost goes up exponentially. The coverage is good but I don't think we can afford the cost for our next cruise.

AIG Travel Travel Guard MedEvac Plan
It was an easy plan to purchase and it was relatively inexpensive. I purchased it primarily for emergency medical treatment or medical evacuation from another country.
Thankfully I never needed it, so I cannot address their claim response.

Wow! It is a time-consuming, complicated and convoluted process to fill a simple claim. LOTS of hoops to jump through.

This review should be titled "You know how to write the insurance, you just don't know how to service it". During a recent cruise my wife required some non-emergency medical attention. when I returned from the trip three days ago I attempted to call this company to notify them of this claim. They tell you via a recorded message , that due to extremely high volume, you should either mail or email information to them or use their website. I emailed them 3 days ago and have not heard anything since. I attempted to use their website, filling in all required information in an attempt to obtain a claims form, but after doing that received a message that "this form is not available for download". Another call to their toll free number told me to press one in order to obtain a claims form, but that resulted in me being disconnected. So this company was extremely efficient at accepting my premium dollars, but when it comes to speaking to someone regarding actually submitting a claim, they are not to be found. I'll try to follow this up at a later date to update on any progress, but so far, count me as a very dissatisfied customer. Should someone contact me and pay this claim, I'll be glad to adjust my ratings.
Revised 4/03/2023. I was finally able to obtain the form to submit the claim. I sent them all of the documentation that they asked for. It took about one week until I received an acknowledgment that the claim had been received. After that, it took approximately three more weeks until I received the check for the full amount of my claim without any quibbling . So, aside from the initial delay in communication, they have handled this claim satisfactorily and I would now recommend this plan.

ORIGINAL POST:
It, has been two months since my claim for a missed cruise. We had purchased a 3 day cruise which included airfare from PHL to FT. Lauderdale for a Feb 14th Valentine Cruise. Weather forced our flight to be cancelled. Along with flights 3 days prior and and after. After all documents were sent to MH Ross, EVERYTHING that was requested, we are now 2 months after our initial claim, and they are still reviewing documents, and have only asked us to send in more and more info to substantiate our claim that the cruise was cancelled. Well our cruise was not cancelled, we couldn't make the flight to get on the cruise. Thats the part they don't understand. They have all the info our flight getting into port was cancelled, but since we cant document the cruise was cancelled, they are not responding to our requests. Even after showing refunds from port taxes from the cruise ship and emails from the cruise ship that we did not make it.

I will update this review upon final determination, but NO I would not recommend this to anyone. Poor customer service, even as I write this, now 15 minutes into it, I have been on hold with there "emergency line" with absolutely no response yet, other than an automated message saying YES we except collect calls.

I do not recommend. Stay away.

**UPDATED 5-14-2014** After months of waiting MH Ross did make whole their responsibility for loss travel. I advise anyone who works through the insurance to have a copy of every document, page, email, receipt, ticket stub, picture, news article, letter, etc ready to be provided. After several phone calls to generic customer service, (Underwriters from elsewhere handle the claim, telephone representatives just take messages) and several documents, they did mail us a check.

Overall just don't expect that the insurance is going to have a quick enough turn around (plan states 7-14 days) of funds to book your new travel plans in the same season you were originally traveling in, if you have to make a claim.

Also to note that insuremytrip is a broker, and in a claim situation they are out of the loop, you call the insurer direct. So calls to them are not helpful. And as mentioned above MHRoss telephone reps just give generic responses, although very polite and understanding on the phone.

Overall I would use Insuremytrip.com again and am glad I did.
