I paid a lot of money for the plan. I was in a great deal of pain and unable to keep up on the trip. But I wasn't sure if I could get my money back and change my plane flight home, so I stuck with it and didn't really enjoy myself. I would have liked the name of someone to call from Asia to see if I could come back after the first week when the pain was really interrupting my trip. Just having a card with a number did not make me feel I would get the support I needed to make the change in itinerary.

    We are sorry to learn of discomfort that you suffered during your trip. The Travelex Travel Select policy does offer the following covered reason for Trip Interruption (found in your Summary of Benefits):

    "(a) Any serious Injury, death, or Sickness;
    (1) Occurring to You or a Traveling Companion, a Family Member traveling with You, that is so disabling as to cause a reasonable person to cancel or interrupt their Trip or which results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of Loss preventing your continued participation in the Trip;"

I purchased coverage for my family as we traveled to Vietnam. The cost was reasonable (far less than that offered by my travel agency), and the coverage was comprehensive. Fortunately I did not have to use the insurance, but appreciated the peace of mind that this insurance provided! Will definitely use again for all extended travel!

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite
My husband was involved in a motorbike accident in Vietnam. He was a passenger with a professional driver who had the misfortune of a dog running directly into the front wheel of the motorbike resulting in the accident. My husband was badly scraped and bruised. The insurance covered all the medical supplies which was all we were asking. It was comforting to know that had there been more serious injuries such as broken bones, the insurance would have covered those expenses as well.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Basic
Since I did not need to make a claim, I really don't know the quality of the insurance I purchased. It covered the areas I wanted at a better price than some competitors.

AXA Assistance USA Gold
This trip had to be cancelled for medical reasons. A refund of the forfIeted deposit was requested from AXA on Oct.10. We were told we would hear back in 30 days. I called AXA after 40 days to check the status and a couple of days later I was told they needed more information. I provided the additional information and was told by an AXA representative it was sufficient. When I called back in a couple of weeks, I was told that still more information was needed. I provided this but did not receive a confirmation of receipt. When I called they told me they had no record of my claim. I sent the same info a second time but still no confirmation. So I called yet again and within the week I had 2 confirmations of receipts. Then miracle of miracles I received a letter that my refund had been approved. Two weeks later, I got two checks in the mail - one for each traveler although they are made out to the same person. But, the names aren’t the problem it’s the amount. The checks were for $300 less than we had been approved. I just got off the phone and they said it was a typo and they will attempt to expedite the new check. What should have been a simple refund process has been a major headache.
Although our flights were also insured, I decided to handle those myself. I had a dull refund within 4 days.
