Tried to reach a representative on Saturday January 8th, 2022. Took 3 calls to different numbers to get someone to answer. the call was about flight being delayed 11 hours, wanted some help with my options. Very frustrating

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Even though it stated that you can change due to work reasons, READ the policy after you get it. The fine print was different than the general wording. "Cancel for work reason" does not apply if you are an owner of a Corporation.

AIG Travel Travel Guard Basic
I called to inquire if this plan covered a flight cancellation as a delayed flight caused me to miss a connecting flight and therefore I had to wait overnight for the next available flight. I was told that this plan did not offer coverage as the reason for the delay was due to the flight crew arriving late.
Seemed a basic reason that would be covered but on this plan I was told it wasn´t so I could not claim if I made alternative arrangements.
I guess you get what you pay for and I chose the basic package, but it worries me what else is not covered if i needed assistance in more extreme circumstances.

Seven Corners Liaison Travel Basic
This plan didn't cover trip delay or interruption which we experience in Mexico. Our flight was cancelled and we had to stay in a hotel for the night and take the flight the next day. Also I didn't cover covid related expenses. So if we tested positive and had to isolate for 7-10 days this plan will not reimburse for those costs.

It's been almost 3 months and all travel mate, the administrator, does is find excuses and tiny technicalities that do not appear to be based in the contractual requirements to not pay the claim. Very unsatisfied. Update - I finally got a check on my claim in August, after the intervention of the travel mate ombudsperson.

Trawick International Safe Travels Voyager
They are impossible to get a hold of when you need them. The emergency service is not very helpful. The claims process is manual (PDF files). I would not recommend them.

InsureandGo Global Gold
This company was extremely hard to deal with. First it was difficult to reach a live person to answer the phone. If I left a message it was not returned. I would try day after day with no return phone call. Only after InsureMyTrip got involved did I receive my payment. Payment over a month to receive.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
We had a delay in total of 6 hrs ( as confirmed by airline e-mail) because plane was diverted back to initial flight departure airport (JFK) after being in the air for 1 hr out of total of 4+ hrs to the destination. The reason as we were informed - technical difficulties with weather radar. The Nationwide, as per insurance policy we bought, should reimburse for two of us (myself and my wife) one way flight cost (total of only $242) out of total trip cost of $2,000 including hotel. Company Trip delay policy has 3 written items for delay reimbursement: a) reasonable additional expenses - we didn't have them, b) an economy fare from the point where we ended our covered trip to destination where we can catch up to covered trip - we had the same departure point and c) a one way economy fare to return us to our originally scheduled destination.
Nationwide stated that items b) and c) meant " additional " economy fare (our fare was originally the economy one). Out of noted items a), b) and c) only item a) says " additional" but representative from the company when I spoke with over the phone asking for claim paperwork said that all 3 items meant to be " additional" and we never received the papers to file a claim.

That's was the reason of our unsatisfied business with Nationwide in this part of the policy.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector
Too slow to process claims, customer service teams are not all on the same page, get different answers every time. Too many repetitive documents requested, all PDFs, need to fill in manually. It took almost 5 months for them to adjudicate the claim. Their customer service is terrible, they can't commit to any timelines, and their people are overloaded with claims. I would avoid this company at all costs.
