    Thank you for providing your feedback which we have also forwarded to Nationwide to review with the claims department. We also offered you an "Anytime" advocate who could review the claim with Nationwide on your behalf.

    Travel insurance is regulated by the states. Nationwide, along with all travel providers, will only pay the claims based on the terms and conditions stated in the policy. All travel insurance is written on a "named peril" basis which means that only those perils/hazards that are specifically listed in the policy are covered. These "named perils" may differ according to policy and may even vary by state.

    Unfortunately, there is no one policy that will cover everything that could occur during a trip. It is important for travelers to take the opportunity to review the terms and conditions of a plan on our website prior to purchasing.

Travelex Travel Select
Because I took out this plan close to the departure date the majority of the claim was not paid out. My trip was cancelled because the airline went into administration the day before I was due to fly. The policy 'small print' meant my flight was never covered on this policy yet the coverage was accepted by Travelex when it was applied for. The system for signing on clients at Travelex needs to be improved and a policy should be declined if full coverage is clearly not stated at sign-up. Whilst I understand that all policies have restrictions and limitations, in this particular case I was left feeling that the old clichés about insurance companies certainly apply to this company : 'if there is somewhere in a policy that allows the insurance company to wriggle out of paying 100% of a claim then they will use that loophole'. Shame on Travelex. I chose this company because of their good reviews and I took out this policy in the belief that trip cancellation would be covered 100% - I was wrong. Will never use this insurance company again as it let me down just when I needed them.

      This matter is now closed to my satisfaction and I would now reconsider using Travelex for my future travel insurance needs.

Seven Corners Roundtrip
Pay close attention to what the policy says. when our trip was interrupted for medical reasons, the only reimbursements we got were for accommodations - read - lodging. There is no reimbursement for additional cost of food, or other costs incurred not related to medical care or transportation, and even then we were denied reimbursement for a hotel-airport transport because the receipt did not indicate the cost, and we had paid cash for it. We also incurred several hundred dollars additional cost for pet care, and received no reimbursement for those costs.

It took numerous telephone calls to their claims administrator Trip Mate, and a month's waiting time (after I filed all necessary paper-work) before I got reimbursed for an expense which I incurred after my airline canceled a connecting flight, and I had to hire a taxi to take my wife, and I, to the connecting airport. The claims department should be more responsive when it comes to customer contact, and turn-around time.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. For future knowledge, customers can contact InsureMyTrip after filing a claim, and request a customer advocate. Customer advocates work hard in assisting with the claim process and can often work with insurance providers to expedite the processing of claims.

Generali Global Assistance Preferred
Details on coverage for airline bankruptcy were not very clear regarding the time required to purchase the policy after initial trip payment. Thus when WOW airlines shut down and my trip had to be cancelled my claim was denied.

On our cruise our baggage was delayed 5 days. Then coming home we missed our connection because the first flight was late. It was extremely stressful and having to keep up with the documentation added to that. But when we returned home I pulled up and carefully followed the instructions. It is a lot of work and very time consuming process. I have so far only completed the delayed baggage claim because our expenses were significant. I haven't filed the claim for the missed connection because the cost to us was around $100. I'm not sure it's worth my time to pursue. The claim process requires me contact the airline and request them write a letter explaining how and why the delay occurred. That is the most time consuming requirement among the others. I hope the claim for the delayed baggage is processed without difficulty. I will update the review if allowed. The cost of the insurance was $850 and our expenses were $2000. But the time and stress involved will require the claim process to go smoothly for it to be feasible for me to purchase insurance in the future.

The insurance did pay some amount, they disallowed some valid expenses and it just wasn't worth fighting them over it.

Customer Advocates are representatives assigned to assist customers who experience issues after filing a claim. I usually buy trip insurance for possible medical problems, but never have anything happen. That is a good thing! This time, my husband had a bad toothache in the middle of the night and we called to see if we could get a referral to a dentist in Cambridge, England. We were told the plan only covers dental work if there is an accident causing damage - not regular dental work. They couldn't give us any names of dentists either. In other words, John Hancock was no help at all. Fortunately we found a same day dental emergency clinic and were able to get in. Costs were very reasonable compared to the USA, so it wasn't a disaster but I felt misled about what the plan would cover for dental work.

    As you indicated, John Hancock plans provide Dental coverage only for accidental injury. Coverage is designed to provide reimbursement for emergency dental treatment for the relief of pain.

    Since plans do vary by insurance company and state, in the future you may want to call us at 800-487-4722 for assistance in selecting a policy.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
I called General Global on 9/20, after going to my London hotel, trying to check in, was told no hot water, and they didn’t know when it would be fixed, waiting for a part. Rep. Looked at my policy and I was told not covered for trip interruption, even though I didn’t know if hot water problem would be fixed, and I would need to go to another hotel. I was very disappointed with General Global coverage. . Eventually there was hot water.

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Plus
The survey isn't exactly an honest account of what the insurance meant to us: i.e. we never had to use it but paid dearly for it and also had, with the HUGE cost of the policy, still some "restrictions" should we have had to use it. I have a great idea, that MIGHT help you get more clients...if someone, like us buys the "covers all/cancel without penalties" policy for over 1200.00 a person, for such a short time...if the client does not use it, then a reimbursement of some kind would be nice...even a small amount otherwise it is pretty expensive.
