Nationwide Mutual Insurance Prime
I know that Traveler insurance is very expensive for "older" travelers, based on many foreign trips over the years. This trip with Nationwide Mutual was no different -- very expensive to get the "full" coverage that I desire and value (especially "Cancel for Any Reason"). I think the cost should be quite a bit less, since I feel that the companies selling this insurance and making a "handsome profit" (considering the risks) for the vast majority of policies that they write!

C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector Lite
I didn't need to use it and so have no opinion about whether I chose the right options. On the trip home, the cruise ship was 4 hours late arriving in NYC causing me to miss my plane. I was not sure whether the Insurance would have paid for me to stay overnight had I needed to.

    Hello, The policy you purchased did included Travel Delay coverage. If you were delayed 12+ hours
    100/day; 500/max. (This coverage is secondary to your primary) The certificate you received upon purchase would have all the covered reasons for Travel Delay.

The real proof of a plan is the service received. Since we had no reason to file a claim, I cannot comment on the service aspect. I do believe that, like all travel insurance plans, that the profit margin is enoumous and, as a result, the rates are excessively high. A person on Medicare, going outside of the US, is caught between a rock and a hardplace. However, in reviewing all plans before we bought, this one seemed to have the best combination of coverages in order to mesh with our supplemental (to Medicare) plan.

    Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Typically, the most cost effective plans offering the pre-existing conditions waiver are available with 10-21 days after making your initial deposit. You will also need to meet a set of criteria outlined by the travel insurance company: insure the full non-refundable cost of the trip, and be medically able to travel when you purchase the policy.
