AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
Travel insurance came through for 2 individuals during my trek who had to be evacuated. I was glad I had the coverage, "just in case".

AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold
I chose Travel Guard because, unlike most other competing policies on this site, Travel Guard does not require that the insurance company arrange emergency evacuation. In the event Travel Guard could not be contacted to arrange for emergency Transportation, benefits are limited to the amount the Insurer would have paid had the Insurer or their authorized representative been contacted. Competing policies apparently will pay nothing if a companion, tour leader, bystander or first responder calls for, say, helicopter evacuation without first calling an insurance company in America to do the arranging. I'd suspect the majority of real emergencies would likely fall in this category.

I did not have occasion to make a claim to Travel Guard for this 2014 Nepal trip, but I did make a claim with them when I was forced to cancel a Nepal trek last year due to a sudden hip joint deterioration. While I had to submit voluminous documentation of my claim, their requests were reasonable in my opinion and I got a check within approximately 10 days of their receipt of my completed claim. Thus the reason they were again my choice for this year's successful trek.

Didn't have a reason to use the plan but I felt the price was reasonable for coverage offered.
