I did not have to use the trip insurance but I was very happy I had the insurance for peace of mind. The very next day after I got home, over 7000+ flights were cancelled due to weather conditions. I would definitely purchase again.

My son started to feel ill during our travels. It turned out to be just a cold, however, knowing we had coverage to terminate the trip early, if necessary, was very important. My daughter was in the same country 11 years ago and her trip had to be cut short for a more serious illness. Knowing we had insurance was very important to us during 14 days of travel.

I was happy that I did not have to use the AIG Travel Guard Basic plan. That is when you find out of good it is! It appears to have covered our needs and I am always happy when I do not need any insurance.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. You will be pleased to know that your policy states that "The Insurer will pay a benefit, up to the Maximum Limit shown on the Schedule, if an Insured cancels his/her Trip or is unable to continue on his/her Trip due to the following Unforeseen events:
(a) Sickness, Injury or death of an Insured, Family Member, Traveling Companion, or Business Partner;
1) Injury or Sickness of an Insured, Traveling Companion or Family Member traveling with the Insured must be so disabling as to reasonably cause a Trip to be cancelled or interrupted, or which results in medically imposed restrictions as certified by a Physician at the time of Loss preventing your continued participation in the Trip." In the event of a claim, the companies all provide a 24 emergency assistance and claim phone number.Feb 12,2016

Thankfully, didn't have to use the plan, but felt comfortable that it was there in case I needed it. Did think it was more expensive than necessary, however.
