Thankfully, we had no reason to file any claims. For this reason, we have no experience with the underlying insurer. The policy appeared competitively priced for the coverages we wanted.

This plan was easy to buy and reasonably priced. We had purchased a policy for a previous trip to Alaska. We ran into problems when we needed to file a claim on the trip to Australia. The response was slow on our first inquiry and then we were asked for duplicate info. We had two separate claims and both times I had to call customer service to get results. On April 25th for example, I was told that a claim check would be sent in the next 10 to 15 business days. When not received by May 19, I had to call and the check had to be Fedex'd to me. Received on May 22. These delays are unacceptable considering the cost of the policy. I WAS very pleased with your service reps. They were friendly and professional. I particularly commend Ernesto who I talked to on more than one occasion and who always managed to answer my question or solve my problem. Please give him my positive feedback. My husband and I are planning another trip but have chosen to buy ins from another company. I hope this feedback will be helpful.

The Plan was OK but would not recommend AXA. We filed a claim and it took over 4 months to complete. This is much too long. The Claims Adjuster misinterpreted a particular piece of information and we had to file additional info (which we did). This delayed the whole process. Also, since we also filed a flight claim, AXA said there were issues because we could potentially utilize the flight credit up to a year's time. However, we finally worked this out but it took a lot of my time. Also, on at least 2 occasions, I had faxed or e-mailed information to AXA but in follow-up they said they never received. This whole process entailed a lot of time on my part.

We were delayed by more than 24 hours.
In spite of that, all we were compensated for were some of our outlaid expenses. The delay cost us precious time from an expensive trip. There should be a reasonable remuneration for the time lost from our trip.

Thank you very much for your comments regarding the Travel Delay coverage in the Gold plan. As you indicated, AXA would only reimburse you for your paid expenses. Unless the loss of time actually results in increased costs during the trip or unused prepaid expenses, as listed in the policy, there would be no coverage for the inconvenience of the delay in any Comprehensive plan even though it is definitely a disappointment when it occurs during a trip. However, we will bring it up to our various providers. Perhaps some form of reimbursement can be incorporated into future plans.Apr 21,2016
