AXA was slow to respond to my claim. The requested supporting documents demonstrated that they had not read my claim nor had they read my plan. In fact, I was asked to provide the confirmation sheets from my own plan among the other supporting documents. It shouldn't be that difficult to file a claim on a canceled flight - it is straightforward and happens all the time. Really disappointed.

Something like travel insurance which does not have to be used is always a good thing, providing some peace of mind. It's too bad that travel insurance, no matter the provider, is so expensive.

The anxiety of others motivated me to get travel insurance that I basically felt was unnecessary. As they say insurance is just in case. Thankfully, in this instance there was no "in case," and I didn't use the insurance. It was a lot of money to cover "just in case" but staff was helpful and the cost, relative to other policies, was less.

Handling of my claim was a total disappointment. I had to call every couple of days to follow up on emails that went unanswered. I provided all the relevant documents at the beginning of the process only to be asked to provide some of them again a month later. The initial claims representative was not responsive at all. Even after this matter was escalated to a manager/superior, I was left unsatisfied with just how long it took for an update and answers to my questions. I've worked in insurance for over 4 years for a TPA and case management firm and the service provided by AXA was way below par.
