Customs at Johannesburg, South Africa was totally backed up. Getting through took three hours, resulting in a missed connection. Totally beyond our control. Couldn't get a flight out until 1pm the next day. Had to stay overnight in Johannesburg and had the expenditure of a hotel room and breakfast, lost a day in Cape Town and the value of our prepaid room and breakfast in Cape Town. Paid over $400 for this policy and was advised by the carrier and InsureMyTrip's advocate nothing would be covered, customs isn't a covered cause of loss. Worthless!

I faxed my claim on July 22 and received approval on August 8, 2016 which I thought was pretty quickly. I didn't receive my payment until August 29. It took 21 days from the approval. That seems a little long to me. The letter said I'd get payment within 10-15 business days. That's exactly what it was but seems like after it's approved, the check should be processed immediately. Also, I didn't get payment for the extra night I had to stay in Capetown because of my friend's illness. Maybe all insurance policies are like that, don't know. But did receive reimbursement for the night I missed at Kruger, so I guess that was fair. The entire process took 5 1/2 weeks.....2 1/2 weeks for approval and 3 weeks to get the check. I think that process could be cut down and should be cut down.
