My husband and I unfortunately developed bronchitis/walking pneumonia on our Viking River Cruise. A doctor made a "house" call to the boat in Hungary and prescribed medication. When we returned to the United States, we called AXA Assistance USA, who helped us find an Urgent Care facility in Atlanta before we returned to our home in Florida. Urgent Care also prescribed medication. We filled out AXA's online claim form and attached scanned copies of all our paperwork and receipts. They paid almost $700 in full within two weeks with no questions. We'll definitely use them for our next trip!

Had to cancel trip 29 days before departure. AXA Assistance USA was courteous and helpful. Never attempted to avoid their obligation to me. Submitting claim was easy and payment was prompt.

The price and coverage seems competitive. Fortunately, I did not need to file a claim, so I don't know how well the plan would work when needed.

The plan is reasonably priced but has lots of exclusions that need to be read over carefully in the contract. All travel insurance has exclusions, so you need to know what you are covered for and what you are not covered for. We were unable to file a claim for a stolen cellphone. It is not covered along with lots of other personal items. I would purchase this plan again, though, since it covers quite a few major issues we were concerned about while traveling abroad.

The plan seemed to cover all my concerns and the price was comparable to other insurance plans; however, there are many exclusions in the policy that a prospective purchaser needs to read carefully. For instance, my cellphone was stolen in Germany, and when I called to make a claim, I was told cellphones are excluded from coverage, as are many other personal items. Read the exceptions and exclusions in any policy that you purchase.

We did not need to use the coverage, but another traveler on our cruise was hit by a bicycler and had to be transported home for surgery. So it was comforting to know we had such good coverage, realizing how possible it was to suddenly need it!

Never having used a travel insurance company before, I was surprised at how different the companies are, as well as how expensive coverage can be. InsureMyTrip offered the coverage we needed and the price was hundreds of dollars less than other companies offering similar, if not exact, coverage. The representatives were so helpful in explaining the rather complicated verbiage in the different policies. I would recommend this company every time because of the exceptional people that they retain to explain and sell their products!
