Nothing of consequence happened so we never made a claim. Price was lower than many other offers though I still think that charging 5% of the cost of our trip for insurance was unreasonably high.

The insurance providers will use a few pieces of personal information to calculate the cost of a Comprehensive plan: the ages of the travelers, the number of travelers, the length of travel, and the cost of the trip. Good to know we had the plan just in case. Almost had a flight cancellation at the end, so I think we would have been covered. No complaints. Would definitely use again!

I waited several weeks before purchasing the insurance, which results in higher premiums. Highly recommend buying the insurance as soon as the trip is booked!

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. In general, premium will not increase the closer you get to the departure date. However, the best time to purchase travel insurance is right after you put money down towards your trip to qualify for time sensitive benefits which include: pre-existing condition waiver, financial default, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons. Most plans require that you purchase a policy within 10 - 30 days after making the initial trip payment, and insure all prepaid non refundable trip costs to receive these time sensitive benefits.Mar 18,2015

Thankfully, I did not use the insurance while on the trip. It would be nice if you gave something back to every purchaser who did not use insurance while away. Insurance coverage is so expensive, it limits amount of travel possible for retired individuals.

Didn't have to file a claim so it is unknown how well CSA stands behind their policies. However, it would be silly to spend the money on a big trip and NOT buy insurance.

My ratings are arbitrary just to file this review. I find it difficult to make any ratings as I did not need to file a claim. However, since this was quite an expensive trip for us (safari in Tanzania), I was glad to have the insurance just in case of any emergencies.

I think that the price paid was expensive enough that it should include (at that same price) "cancel for any reason" coverage.
