This is the second time I have used the travel insurance. It is very easy to purchase and the documents are sent by email very quickly. I had a small health claim which required a lot of documentation and time to complete. I am retired so I had time to go through all the requirements. If you are working I am sure you would forget it and not submit the claim. Probably how they make money!

    Even though this policy cannot insure a traveler who does not reside in the US, it can provide protection if you need to cancel your trip due to your traveling companion's covered cancellation.

    The CSA policy defines a traveling companion as "a person who, during the Trip, will accompany you in the same accommodations." This definition does not specify that your traveling companion must reside in the US for coverage to apply.

My trip went off without a hitch, but I met others who 6 days into the cruise still didn't have their luggage after missing the first 2 days. All I could say was "that's why I bought my CSA travel insurance ".

They covered a previous claim I submitted very well and without hassle. This trip was uneventful.

The representative I talked to was very knowledgeable. The rules to get this type of insurance are many and confusing. He gave me advice about how to get coverage early so that preexisting conditions were covered. The assumption of when I could get it are lost in the details and I misunderstood them. If not already it should be explained in InsureMyTrip articles and put on a top ten checklist of items to consider.

    Thank you for your review and feedback. Some insurance companies will base your price partly by determining how close you are to your departure date. The logic is that the less time you have before departure, the less likely you will have a trip cancellation claim. This is likely why you say a lower price when you checked a week or so later.
