In the past we have used the insurance to cover prepaid cruises. This time we were traveling with reservation for various hotels and transportation where we were committed to pay if the stays or events were not canceled by a certain date (3 - 7 days before reservation.) It was hard to figure out how much insurance to buy. I'd thought that if we got injured in Rome and had been unable to get to our Sorrento hotel (incurring a penalty equal to the 3 night stay), we would have been covered, but when we contacted customer services, they said that only pre- paid items were covered. Fortunately we had no issues--but I wonder if there is a policy where commitments are defined in advance and covered.

We usually always go with CSA from InsureMyTrip.com and have never had any problems. The coverage was fine. We had no need to file any claims. Just appreciated the peace of mind for traveling.

This is the second trip that I've used a CSA Travel Protection plan. Although I've been fortunate enough to not have had to file a claim, I've felt a sense of security during my trips in case I did encountered any problems.
