The Global Alert Preferred plan offers comprehensive Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption coverage if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip due an unforeseen covered event.
We used this insurance last summer, and we had a small claim because of a flight delay that caused us to miss a connection -- and this small claim took months to process. There was never any question about whether our claim was covered, but it just took a very long time for the company to process the claim. In addition, the website did not always accurately reflect the status of our claim. This summer, however, we had no claim to file, and all was fine.

My wife and I just got back from Peru. We purchased the Global Alert combination plan which covered all aspects of our trip from medical care to trip cancellation. Fortunately, we did not have to file a claim. The cost of the insurance plan was reasonable and effortless to purchase.

I was in touch with the travel assistance team in regards to an issue. They first tried. Then were supposed to call back which was not done in a timely way. In the end they were no help at all and I wound up spending a lot of money on my international phone bill.

We had to cancel an expensive pre-paid tour shortly before departure due to a medical reason. I was pleased with how smoothly the claim process went. I appreciated being able to track the progress of our claim online.
It took a little over three weeks from the day I sent in the documentation for the claim to the day I got the refund check.
I am very thankful that we had purchased travel insurance and that there weren't a lot of hassles involved in getting our refund.

I unfortunately had to file a claim for the theft of my backpack while traveling in Peru. (Global Alert Preferred) handled my claim in a timely manner and reimbursed me for approximately 90% of my items. I would highly recommend this service to anyone traveling. One of the cheapest rates I have found.
