The initial cost of the plan was okay when I first purchased the insurance, but when I tried to add more coverage for additional expenses prior to the trip (e.g., paid for a rented an apartment in Paris), the price was outrageously high. I didn't get all the coverage that I wanted because it became too expensive.

Being older, we prefer to be cautious and have been purchasing trip insurance for our major trips. It gave us peace of mind being able to purchase insurance based on our airfare and lodging expenses. Nationwide provided a good value and reassurance.

We had a complicated issue with a damaged suitcase in which the airline wouldn't cover it. There was no claim filed with the airline since they wouldn't allow a claim but, they did give us a $100 voucher. Nationwide let us use that voucher as proof that we tried to file a claim and ended up giving us a check for the suitcase. We also had to submit equivalent prices of similar suitcases we found online and they ended up giving us the maximum amount that we submitted.

So very glad we were covered and even more glad we didn't need it. But one cruiser on our ship was met at a port by an amublance, so it's always possible this coverage will hep.
