While fortunately i did not need to implement my plan, it was a huge peace of mind knowing I had coverage. My trip was physically demanding and also not easily accessible (Grand Canyon) so I was reassured I was covered if something happened in the canyon. My friend had the same plan and had to cancel early before the trip due to injury. She had no issues with getting her refunds.

I did not file a claim so I have no knowledge of how Nationwide would process a claim. I chose this policy because it was the only comprehensive coverage that did not require mandatory life insurance coverage, something that is not necessary for me.

What can I say? Insurance is a necessary evil and I had to purchase a policy. This one was adequate and served my needs. I think insurance rates are always too high and that is why the companies can build the biggest buildings with their profits and the consumers struggle to pay all their bills.

Thankfully I didn't need to file a claim. It does give you peace of mind in the event something happens before you take your trip, and what you paid towards the trip which typically is nonrefundable or something possibly happens during the trip, that you are covered.

The only reason I chose the Nationwide comprehensive plan is that life insurance was not mandatory, which would have added 20 percent to the cost. I DID NOT file a claim, so I can't assess how Nationwide would have handled a claim. Insurance is necessary, to protect against possible loss/expenses. I have homeowner insurance. The last claim I filed was for 1992's Hurricane Andrew in Miami. No problem then, but in September 2017, Hurricane Irma in Central Florida damaged the roof shingles. The shingles were not ripped off and the insurance company denied the claim, although the company paid to have sections of the wet, moldy ceiling removed. I still don't have a water-tight roof or repaired ceiling, and have filed suit against the insurance company.
That tangent has a purpose. I renewed an insurance policy filing no claims for 25 years. If I file a future claim for travel insurance losses, will that be covered? I am grateful, however, that InsureMyTrip.com served as an advocate when I incurred expenses for trip interruption, using a different insurance company policy. One email from IMT to the company had the claim paid within ten days. So yeah, travel insurance purchased through IMT is essential, and I advise not to purchase coverage directly from the insurance company. The cost is the same, and you have one to advocate for you.
