I think the coverage was very good for the price. The only complaint I have is that, once you send in the payment, you would expect them to send you a policy of some type, written or electronic. Never heard anything. Finally printed out the sheets with the coverage info. Glad I didn't need to file a claim. Doubt that I had anything all that legal with me.

I felt relieved to know that I had the plan, in case I did need it! I thought the price was well worth the peace of mind. I would rather have the coverage and not need it, than not have it and need it! At least this did not cost a fortune like some of the others that I reviewed.

The Nationwide Mutual insurance plan gave us peace of mind if something went wrong. We didn't need to use the insurance so we weren't sure if this was the right kind of insurance. There was no need to find out if it was a good plan.

Submitted a Travel Delay claim due to return flight having been cancelled. Carrier advised us it would be 48 hours before they could provide an alternate flight, so I purchased a 1-way ticket with another carrier for a flight that left sooner. I incurred expenses of $263 (replacement airfare plus meals.) I submitted a claim and received a check for $150 (the maximum daily amount provided by my policy) in exactly 10 days. The company did what they were supposed to do, in a timely manner and without any hassles.

Appreciate that we can get a plan to insure the basic tour cost. While traveling within the United States, we don't feel it's necessary to emphasize the extra insurance for luggage, medical, etc.

The only issue was that I didn't know that I had to buy the insurance when I made the initial payment. You are unclear as to when this occurs - is the initial payment when I make the hold payment? Or is it when I make the initial 50% of trip payment?

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. The Initial Trip Payment is the very first time any money of any kind was paid for any part of your trip. Even if the payment you made was refundable at one point in time, it is still considered the initial trip payment. The redemption of points or miles, while not an actual monetary exchange, would still constitute as an initial trip payment if they were the first transaction you made for your trip. In determining the initial trip payment date, the insurance providers claims department will request specific documentation showing the date the credit card number was provided to the travel supplier or when the check was written.Jun 16,2015

InsureMyTrip emails a Confirmation of Coverage which is your Nationwide policy. Based on your review, it appears that you printed the confirmation email and took it with you on the trip. The confirmation email is exactly what you needed to bring since it has the policy number and provider contact information along with an attached copy of the Nationwide Certificate of Insurance.
