One of the things that I find distressing is if you have a medical problem which delays your trip, the additional expenses incurred are not covered such as hotel, food, transportation costs, which, over 4 days or so can add up. I realize that we purchased the policy for a specific amount of time, but when that time is extended due to factors out of our control, the policy should cover some of those costs. I will be certain to ask more questions of Nationwide before I purchase their policy again.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Unfortunately, the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential plan does not cover travel delay due to an illness or injury. In addition, the policy certificate does not list an illness or injury as a reason for an extension of coverage. We offer comprehensive plans from different insurance providers that do cover travel delay due to illness or injury, and extend coverage up to 7 days due to an unavoidable circumstance. Happily, we didn't need to use our insurance but we appreciated the security of having the coverage. We also appreciated the last minute reminder that TruTravel e-mailed to us with the necessary numbers that we should call in an emergency.
