I filed a straightforward claim for a relatively small amount of money, "cancel for any reason", and the proper paperwork was submitted at that time. I was informed today that the claim will not be reviewed for 60 BUSINESS DAYS, due to limited staffing, etc. This is unacceptable, and apparently I do not have any other means of expediting the process. Waiting 12 weeks for the claim process to BEGIN is not reasonable, and will prevent me from buying from Nationwide again, or recommending the company to anyone else.

I apologize for the delay with your claim. Prior to the pandemic, travel insurance claims were typically processed within 30 days provided that all necessary documentation was sent in. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the volume of requests has become quite overwhelming over the last year and the normal processing time for claims with most Providers in the travel insurance industry is around 3-4 months.
We needed to change the dates of our trip at the last minute when we got sick a day or so before we were scheduled to leave. Our host accommodated the change at no charge (so no need to make a claim), and Nationwide shifted the coverage to the new date with no additional cost. We appreciate the flexibility.

I had one change needed to my plan a couple of weeks before we left and the agent with whom I spoke was helpful. The change was easy and I was very pleased with the customer service. Luckily we did not need the coverage to file a claim, but in the time of COVID I was glad I had the insurance. After researching possible companies, this was the one I chose and I'm glad.
