The price was right, and customer service was excellent. I liked the automated e-mails that confirmed coverage and offered the link to file a claim. The trip was fine, and we had no claim. As you read other reviews, make sure claims are being paid! Those reviews are more important than this one. When I picked, I liked what I saw from people who had claims.

This plan was better than the cruise line vacation plan. Since I had purchased a plan from Travelex for a previous trip, I had the peace of mind knowing that should something go awry during this “new normal,” I would be covered for the trip. Highly recommend using insuremytrip for cost comparison in selecting the right plan for you. For this trip, it was Travelex for me.

Travelex through Insure My Trip covered us for a cruise that was cancelled due to COVID. We were able to get back all our pre-paid money (airline, hotel, cruise deposit, etc.) WITHOUT making a claim with Travelex. Travelex customer service allowed us to maintain a credit for ANY other travel for at least a year. We chose a different trip, had Travelex insure it, and as the new trip cost less than the original cruise, they refunded us the difference, "hassle-free!". We found them very customer responsive, professional and ethical.

We didn't go on the cruise :( I actually forgot about this insurance plan. We ended up going somewhere else in FL for a week. I wish I would have remembered this so I could have covered this trip instead. Ohh well, too late to turn back and it definitely isn't the company's fault. Thanks!

Due to covid-19 outbreaks, my trip was cancelled by the airline and resort. Travelex denied my trip interruption claim. Other than the fact that it took 3 months for them to get back to me (after multiple inquires) but I was looking for a credit towards a future trip - not necessarily a refund. Nowhere was I given that option that BTW my traveling friend who used another insurance company was offered. I will NOT be using Travelex again!!

My wife broke her arm in India. I called the company from India...they were unhelpful and wanted me to complete forms! That was ridiculous...how do you complete forms from India.

We would like to take this opportunity to clarify how On Call International, Travelex’s travel assistance company, offers assistance for medical emergencies that present themselves on a covered trip. On Call’s medical case process requires all patients to be evaluated by a treating physician and to have the medical information reviewed by On Call’s Medical Team to help ensure patient’s safety, in order to assist the traveler. On Call’s Medical Team specializes in flight physiology and follows guidelines set forth by the International Air Medical Transport Association and the Aerospace Medical Association to determine a patient’s fit to fly status as patient’s conditions may change at elevation. After waiting 10 weeks for a response.....our claim was denied. Apparently terminating the trip early due to a worldwide pandemic and borders closing down was not a good reason. Warren Buffet should be ashamed of himself!!! No matter how I justified our claim the rep said a pandemic is not included in any of their policies.
I'll be sure to find insurance elsewhere for our next vacation.

"Thank you for expressing your concerns on InsureMyTrip.com.
Please note that Travelex Insurance Services, Inc. is the marketer of the travel insurance plans and does not make any claim determinations. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance Company (“BHSIC”) is the underwriter and the Claim Administrator for all claim or appeal related inquires.
In the policy details, which were sent to you on August 31, 2019 when the policy was purchased, it explains all the eligible reasons for trip cancellation, including the terms, limitations, and exclusions. Which includes the General Exclusion “(d) any government regulation or prohibition”.
Having said the above, we do empathize and recognize that coronavirus has created a difficult situation for travelers.
We recommend talking to your Traveler Suppliers about transferring any monies paid to a new trip. Additionally, it may be possible to obtain a Date Transfer on your policy, which allows you to apply the plan to another trip, in the future. If you would like to apply a One-Time Date Transfer to your policy, please contact us at [email protected], so we can help process the cancellation of your claim and apply a One-Time Date Transfer to your policy.
It is important to remember that insurance is highly regulated. Claims need to be processed according to the policy details and based on the documentation submitted to the Claim Administrator.
If you believe all or any part of your claim was wrongfully rejected or denied, you have the right to have your claim re-reviewed by BHSIC, if you are able to submit additional documentation.
