Unfortunately, we had to cancel our trip because a family member became seriously ill. I had never had a trip insurance claim before and wasn't sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at the prompt and helpful service I received and the prompt claim payment. I made several calls to discuss questions and each representative was friendly, helpful and caring. It made the very difficult time easier to cope with.

I did not need to use the plan but was glad to have it. My main concern was getting back home if I was injured or otherwise delayed while away, and I thought TravelSafe had the best plan of the ones that I looked at. Unfortunately TravelSafe will only evacuate you if the hospital at your travel destination cannot care for your needs - so I had to sign up for an additional plan that would evacuate me even if the local hospital was able to care for me. It would be nice if TravelSafe would add that evacuation option.

Thank you for your review. You bring up a great point about emergency medical evacuation coverage. Typically, when medically necessary, most insurance providers will take you to the closest hospital that can treat you and then to a hospital in your home city. The policy we selected seemed to cover the items about which we were most concerned, so we were able to go on a six-week trip with some peace of mind. At 10% of the cost of the trip, I felt this coverage was very expensive, so I sincerely hope there would not have been difficulties if we had needed to file a claim. I will say that InsureMyTrip is an asset!

Fortunately I did not have to use the insurance but it was nice to know that it was there, just in case. The overall process for selecting a plan was straightforward. The most difficult step was selecting from multiple vendors whose plans were very similar. The comparison tool helped identify the differences.
