Our infant got sick while abroad and just couldn't break a fever and wouldn't eat/drink. As much as I didn't want to bring her to the doctor, we did. We had to pay for everything in cash/credit card and hope we would be reimbursed. The process to submit all the receipts/credit card statements was a bit of a hassle, but our claim was reimbursed and I am very satisfied. Actually in retrospect it was easier than dealing with my own health insurance in the USA.

We did not go to Costa Rica and I tried multiple times to get in touch with someone. I thought the point of travel insurance was to help with the cost when you couldn’t go.

This experience couldn't have been easier. We got the coverage we needed as required for entry into Costa Rica, as well as the additional coverage we wanted for our regular expenses. All I wanted was COVID-19 Travel Insurance as mandated by the Costa Rica government. All other companies wanted to do was insure my entire trip which was very expensive.
