The AIG Travel Travel Guard Gold plan offers mid-level coverage and more options than Travel Guard Basic and Travel Guard Silver, allowing you to customize the plan to best fit your needs. In addition to Trip Cancellation, this plan offers Cancel for Any Reason coverage and a Pre-Existing Conditions Waiver. Children age 17 and under are free when there is at least one covered adult on the plan.

We had to cancel our trip on March 2nd due to illness. This was at the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic. It took a few weeks longer than usual for the claim to start being processed (which was very understandable). But once the agent opened the case, the process took about a week to complete. Then once fully approved, we received a check for the full amount of insurance claim in 3 days. Outstanding service!

Our trip was cancelled due to a blizzard which cancelled our flight. We received a check from TravelGuard 2 weeks after submitting our claim. They paid the full amount of our Resort charges, as they were non-refundable. Very satisfied with this plan.

I can not say if it was a good plan or bad. The problem with this is that I did not know what a typical level of protection would consist of. For instance, what would it cost to be Medically Evacuated to the US from Costa Rica - I have no idea, so is $1,000,000 correct or would $50,000 be good enough? If I don't know, I would tend to "Over Insure" myself which wastes money if it is not used. However, if I "Under Insure" myself I am left with a huge burden which I may not be able to financially recover from. But I believe this is what the Insurance Companies want, since most will "Over Insure".

We had an unexpected medical issue with our child who wound up in the hospital in a Costa Rica. The Travel Medical Assistance was fantastic and it really gave me comfort I had someone on my side helping out.
