The Preferred plan is a comprehensive travel insurance plan offered by Arch RoamRight and has several options not offered on the Arch RoamRight Essential plan, allowing for a more customizable product. In addition to trip cancellation and delay, the Preferred plan offers coverage for one child per paid adult, accidental death and dismemberment coverage, trip interruption, medical and evacuation coverage, and 24/7 assistance.

I feel totally cheated. We purchased the "Cancel For Any Reason" plan because our daughter's work situation was so uncertain that there was possibility that she might not make to the trip up to the last minute. It turns out that plan has a "fine print" that a cancellation must be made 48 hours before the scheduled departure, which was never brought to my attention while I was considering purchasing it. As a result we missed the "48 hours" window and we did not get a coverage at all. If it requires two days advance notice, it is not really a "cancel for any reason" plan. Additionally this critical requirement should have been printed large and clear on up of the policy, the notice email and the insurance certificate, instead of hidden amoung the sea of words and have people miss it easily.
When I called RoamRight to report that my daughter did not get on the plane, the customer service representative apparently was not aware of this requirement either. She suggested that this was not a problem, and I would be reimbursed of the 75% of cost.
In short this was a terrible experience. I will find a way to post this to a larger audience so that others don't make the same mistake as i did.

Our claim for a missed airline connection was processed very efficiently and was completed within 9 days.
We followed the RoamRight letter which listed the documentation they required to properly review and process our claim. We also attached additional documentation, then grouped and listed all the documents to make it easier for the claim processor to find all the requested information.
My hats off to Roam Right and especially to the claim processor. Very good and very efficient job.

It's difficult to write a meaningful review of it, as I didn't have to file a claim. And that's where the rubber hits the road for any insurance. But I must say I was treated carefully and well by the people I dealt with online, and especially when I had to change my coverage before the trip started. They made it easy for me.

This plan covered most of the concerns we had. Fortunately we did not have to use it. However, I was disappointed that upon changing our flights while we were away (to add two more days to our trip) we could not add on coverage. This may not be plan specific, but something I will keep in mind for next time.

Thank you for your feedback on the policy. With any comprehensive policy, changes cannot be made after your departure date. However, coverage will extend if you were delayed for covered reasons.Mar 07,2014

The criteria for Cancel for Any Reason coverage is displayed on page three of the policy document – available for your viewing on InsureMyTrip prior to purchasing -- as well as linked to the Cancel for Any Reason coverage description on the InsureMyTrip purchase page. Your claim was adjusted according to the terms of your policy.
We are a little perplexed by the account of your call in which one of our representatives may have provided you with contradictory information regarding the 48 hour Cancel for Any Reason cancellation period. Our representatives have been trained on the policy coverages.
