Make sure to add many extra days to the end dates on your trip. I was denied my travel delay claim coming home because the delay caused me to be one day after the date I said I was returning. It took John Hancock 3 weeks to respond and that was after I had to send an email requesting any kind or correspondence requesting letting me know they received my claim. I will say the employees were kind and helpful when on the phone with them.

Back on July 23rd, 2019 we sent you an email asking for additional claim information if you wished us to assign an "Anytime" advocate to review the claim file, but you did not reply. my bags were delayed 6 hours. I had a 12 hour plan. Not sure if the price difference would be worth it to get a lesser hour delay plan. thankfully didn't need to use the plan but peace of mind knowing we have it just in case

Only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars on the "all items covered" and "promptly and fairly" questions was because the checks I received indicated there was a letter coming AND I expected a third check for incidentals. After waiting till after the holidays and not receiving a third check or a letter I called and found out the letter was actually an email and it had been sent to an incorrect email address. It took a day or so for the email to be resent and it explained that incidentals were not covered by the policy I purchased. The explanation of everything else covered was fair and reasonable.

"When Your Coverage Ends:
Coverage is effective for the stated term shown in the confirmation of benefits. In addition, Your coverage will end at 11:59 P.M. local time on the earliest of the following dates:
(a) the date You cancel Your Covered Trip;
(b) the Scheduled Return Date as stated on the travel tickets;
(c) the date You return to Your origination point if prior to the Scheduled Return Date; or
(d) the date You leave or change Your Covered Trip (unless due to Unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances covered by the Policy)."
