The Silver plan is the mid-level policy offered by John Hancock and may be ideal for families traveling with children, as kids 17 and under are free as long as one parent is covered under the plan. Coverage is offered if you have to cancel or interrupt your trip for a typical covered reason which can range from an unforeseen illness, injury or death to your destination being made uninhabitable by a natural disaster. The Silver plan does offer higher limits of coverage than the Bronze plan for Baggage, Travel Delay, Medical and Emergency Medical Evacuation.

I did not have to make a claim, so I cannot comment on that aspect. But I can say that Insure My Trip was helpful when I called with questions regarding questions, coverage, comparisons. We will be using them for future trips!

I was more concerned about missing connecting flights and the airline bumping me...my reason to buy the insurance. A travel agent planned the trip for someone else and I was asked to accompany the individual on the trip. I felt I had little control. Also bought it to insure the hotels, and travel arrangements were met. Not sure I would buy it again...not because John Hancock was bad. Just because I would do the trip differently.
