Never buying it again, would not cover refunding son's portion of an excursion due to him being injured the evening before while on an excursion, told me to not even bother making a claim. In advance of making the purchase, they said not being able to make an excursion for ANY reason would be covered, then after they hid behind their fancy language and said it was only covered if the parties could not continue on the ENTIRE vacation, not just the one excursion. I asked a LOT of detailed question in advance because we were buying 2 very expensive excursions directly from the vendor, vs through the cruise line and making sure the excursions were covered was one of the key items we wanted to confirm.

Thank you for your review. All policies have listed covered reasons in which you can file a claim for reimbursement and they require documentation in order to be able to file a claim. In the event of an injury, or sickness, that affects a traveler and the trip you will need documentation from a doctor and documentation from your travel supplier showing how the trip was affected. In the future, we suggest contacting us or the assistance center if something happens while traveling and we can best assist you with understanding what to do. Thank you for your feedback on the policy. Unfortunately, this is a general exclusion with most plans.
Per your policy certificate, the following is a listed exclusion:
"12. artificial teeth and dental bridges;"

This was the first time we had ever purchased travel insurance. If we ever do again, we will definitely not be using Nationwide. Even after my insurance paid as primary, Nationwide rejected my claim as they were our secondary insurance for this trip. Interesting that my medical insurance had no issues processing their portion of the claim, but we paid extra for this travel insurance and then they won't even process the claim.

Thank you for your comments. After receiving your review, we reached out to Nationwide for a response. Here is their reply:
“According to the documentation provided, you are requesting reimbursement for an acupuncture treatment while you were on your cruise. The Emergency Sickness Medical Expense coverage provides reimbursement for Covered Medical Expenses which are necessary services and are ordered or prescribed by the attending Physician. Unfortunately, you were not treated by a physician while on the cruise that ordered or prescribed you to receive an acupuncture treatment.”
Although it is unfortunate to hear that you are not satisfied with the denial of your claim, the decision was made in accordance to the terms of your policy.Dec 09,2019 -

The acupuncturist on board treated me for vertigo after spending 2 days in my room. From the web..."Medical acupuncturists are physicians (e.g., medical doctors, osteopaths [osteopathic physicians], dentists) who have completed additional training in acupuncture."
I received this treatment so that I could function which I believe would be a necessary service. Thank you~Dec 09,2019
