The plan I bought was satisfactory, and I would buy it for the same purpose in future. However, the purchase process was very difficult, much harder than it used to be. I have used insuremytrip for at least 15 years, with very few problems. This time, I tried and failed to pay with two different credit cards, both were refused. Finally had to make expensive call From New Zealand to USA to get cover, with a third credit card! On arrival in U.K. I found one of the credit cards I had tried (and failed) to pay with had been blocked due to suspicious activity. It was all rather frustrating.

I have used this plan at least 3 times during the last year. On 2 occasions, I had a claim. The folks who process the claims for this company will "slow walk" your claim and ask for a pile of unnecessary documentation before you see your claim paid. However, in each instance, we eventually received the full amount we were entitled to. On one occasion, a customer advocate for InsureMyTrip was extremely helpful in resolving the issue. Bottom line: good coverage, fair price, slow claims servicing.

You have also been a loyal customer of InsureMyTrip since May 2009. It is not unusual for customers to find the claims process and necessary paperwork cumbersome, but as you discovered, you can call InsureMyTrip at 800-487-4722 to request an Anytime Advocate to expedite the claims process if necessary.Apr 12,2019

Needed a last minute plan for medical coverage only since we already arrived at the port for the cruise. Easy and simple to purchase. A good peace of mind since we saw another person on the ship get evacuated at one of the ports in Mexico due to a heart attack. We hoped and prayed that they were ok and they had insurance. Medical care and flight to mainland US could be as high as $100,000 dollars.

Avoid this plan if you really want to be "insured". I was stuck in a foreign country, since my toddler fell sick (virus that causes breathing difficulty) prior to the return trip. Tokio Marine refused to pay the medical bill and the replacement ticket. The claims website is very obfuscating and pretty hard to figure out how it works. Go with a different company.

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to learn about child's illness. Upon speaking with the insurance provider it appears the medical claim was paid, subject to the deductible selected on the policy. In terms of the trip interruption claim, it appears the reason for interrupting the trip, although serious, was not related to a listed covered reason, per the certificate. You do have the right to appeal the claim, and the link to proceed with the appeal was provided by the insurance provider. In the future we encourage you, and all customers, to call us prior to purchasing the insurance and we can assist you with purchasing a policy based on your primary concerns. The most important parts were loss of luggage, cancellation of trip, and medical coverage while abroad. We did not experience any of these conditions but it was comforting thought that should something like this happen we were covered.
