Medical and emergency transportation provider, On Call International employed by insurance provider was very difficult to deal with. Flight arrangements had to go through numerous levels of review and delays. We were told at 1:30am that we had a flight the next morning (airport about 1 hr away), and could not arrange reliable medical transport, subsequently missing our flight. On Call was not able to arrange suitable flight for the next day, so I booked on my own.
Travel Insured International denied payment for my return flight as covered in the policy, however, after i provided information that they should have had (On Call was able to get a refund for the missed flight), they said I will be reimbursed.

Claim was made as one of our travelers cancelled . I got ‘cancel for any reason coversge’ I ended up with 75% of the cost refunded. Claim took almost 10 weeks to go through.

It was my own fault. I forgot to get insurance earlier because I was busy buying and selling a home. When I remembered, I didn't even think of getting coverage for pre-existing conditions because I was fine. I wasn't even thinking about my travel companion and it subsequently turned out she had a condition which was treated before my effective coverage date. I was totally unaware of that at the time I took out my insurance. Unfortunately, that meant I had to cover the single supplement for myself. It doesn't seem fair, because I have absolutely no control over anyone else's medical condition, and it seems that it's a way to force people to get pre-existing coverage.

Thank you for the feedback on the policy. We are sorry to learn that you are dissatisfied with the coverage on this plan. You can purchase a policy up until the day before departure, however; you may not be eligible for some time sensitive benefits. Some time sensitive benefits are, but not limited to: Pre-Existing Condition Waiver, Financial Default, Terrorism, Cancel For Any Reason and Cancel For Work Reasons.
Most plans require that you purchase a policy within 10 - 21 days of your initial trip payment, and insure all prepaid, non-refundable trip costs to receive these time sensitive benefits.

I had an injury nine days before our trip that was completely unexpected and as a result we had to cancel our trip to the Netherlands. My claim was paid within a few weeks of my claim submission with only one query from the claim department. I was able to contact the claims adjuster directly and resolve her questions in a short telephone call. I received my claim payment in full within two weeks of that call. Thanks to Crum and Forrester we have just rescheduled the same trip we missed this spring for next spring. Needless to say we also purchased C and F coverage for the coming trip.
