I had a hotel that I booked in Cancun 3 months prior, cancel 7 days before my trip. No explanation, just an email saying room canceled by booking agent. I had to scramble to find a more expensive hotel. I wish these types of cancellations were covered by my trip insurance. IMT Agent said the only way to get paid was if the hotel was inhabitable.

Glad I didn't need it. But glad we had it. Sales lady was knowledgable, courteous and fast. Much cheaper than using insurance offered by cruise company (with less coverage).

Purchased pre-existing coverage which I choose on all trips. FYI: ALWAYS read the policy in full. I had to cancel due to anxiety & filed a claim. I received a call and found out my claim was denied. Anxiety is considered a mental problem and is not covered unless you are hospitalized. I was not hospitalized, so no coverage for my claim. Almost 9K out of pocket.

The C&F Travel Insured International Worldwide Trip Protector plan does not cover claims related to: a mental or nervous condition, unless hospitalized for that condition while the Policy is in effect for You. This exclusion is a standard exclusion in most, if not all travel insurance plans. We strongly recommend customers read the terms and conditions of the policy within the review period to determine if the policy fits your needs. If the policy does not fit your needs, it can be cancelled within the review period for a refund of premium. Please call us at 800-487-4722 if you have any questions or concerns.

We have used Insure My Trip many times before. It's an easy web site to use where you enter specific trip information and needs. It then offers you a wide range of policies ranging in coverage and price. I've also used their customer service for questions and for assistance with filing a claim. They have always been clear, concise, and helpful with their customer support.
For travel overseas medical insurance and evacuation were important. Because we are older and our parents are older we now use it for all of our trips in the United States. I would recommend them to anyone who is considering trip insurance.

Your or Your Traveling Companion’s primary place of residence or destination being rendered uninhabitable and remaining uninhabitable during Your scheduled Trip by fire, flood, burglary or other Natural Disaster. Your destination is uninhabitable if: (i) the building structure itself is unstable and there is a risk of collapse in whole or in part; (ii) there is exterior or structural damage allowing elemental intrusion, such as rain, wind, hail, or flood; (iii) immediate safety hazards have yet to be cleared such as debris on roofs or downed electrical lines; or (iv) the rental property is without electricity or water. Benefits are not payable if a storm, snow storm, blizzard or hurricane is named on or before the Effective Date of Your Trip Cancellation coverage..."
