Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
We didn't encounter any problems with our flights or hotels so it is kind of hard to say if this plan would have covered those losses. It was comforting to know we had this coverage.

I tried to file a claim but it was impossible getting through, so I finally just contacted the airlines myself. Next time I will do a better job of shopping for a trip insurance.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing pandemic, travel insurance providers as a whole have been experiencing increased call and email volume, resulting in longer than usual wait times. However, we are happy to hear that you were able to be refunded from your airline.
We have contacted Nationwide's claims department on your behalf and they have indicated that they are still awaiting documentation for your claim. If you are still at a loss, we recommend you contact them to complete your claims process at (888) 490-7606 or by email at [email protected].
Didn't have to use the coverage so no way to gauge the actual effectiveness but everything was smooth from the standpoint of signing up, receiving the policy and getting reminders to take it along on the trip in case anything did go wrong.

Fortunately, we did not have to use any benefits of the plan. There were however two medical emergencies on the cruise that required the people to disembark, one by helicopter at sea. That was a reminder of how important insurance can be.
