I felt very comfortable traveling to Mexico with this travel protection. Fortunately we didn’t have to use it but it felt great having it and I highly recommend this company

The coverage itself seemed great. I did not file a claim which would have been the true test. I did not enjoy my interactions with one of the chat representatives however. I would still use insuremytrip in the future but hope I would not come in contact with the representative in particular.

I’m not sure how helpful this review will be because, thankfully, we didn’t need to use the coverage we bought. That said, my husband and I went to Mexico for a short 5 day trip to attend a wedding. We’re on Medicare and our coverage doesn’t extend outside the US. I was not looking for trip interruption coverage. I just wanted to be sure we could get back to the US in a medical emergency and had medical coverage while in Mexico. We’re in our 70’s. The plan covered everything I was concerned about and a few extras. The cost was about $90, which I didn’t think was too bad for our age. My sister bought the same plan for less about $50; they’re in their very early 60s. The plan also provided accommodations coverage in the event a positive covid required a quarantine period. It was very much worth the piece of mind.

I have been a customer of insuremytrip.com for more than a decade, they compare different rates with different insurance providers. I have mostly purchased insurance from Travelex through insuremytrip.com, here they act as a broker on behalf of different insurance providers. As a worldwide traveler I find that travel insurance is helpful when you travel internationally. Most of the time when I file a claim it is for medical assistance. Depending on where you go, the medical costs may be far less than here in the US. Unless you are seriously injured or ill and require hospitalization, it might be easier not to file a claim, especially in places where medical costs are extremely nominal even without local insurance. Unless you are admitted to the hospital you must pay out of pocket then file a claim for reimbursement. I have found this process oftentimes very cumbersome, as you have to fill out multiple pages of forms to submit a claim and be successfully reimbursed. At the same time, I do recommend those international travelers to definitely have the insurance, because in addition to medical assistance, it also helps with flight delay and loss of luggage etc. Review the Terms & Conditions carefully, as they may not cover storms that have already been announced or other exclusions. The insurance Only covers unforeseeable problems.

I never travel without trip insurance. I would feel like my trip was ruined if I had to come out of pocket several thousand dollars for things that are covered by a few hundred dollars with insurance. It is always easy to purchase and compare plans. Fortunately I have never had to file a claim but feel confident that I would be taken care of should the situation arise.

I contacted a representative because I had a concern that could have bound me over in Mexico for a couple more days. I learned that hotel accommodations were not covered by the policy, although it stated they were when I purchased the coverage. I will not be using BHT again, due to this false advertisement.

Thank you for your feedback. Berkshire Hathaway has provide the following response:
After reviewing this a little further, depending on the reason for staying a few extra days, some lodging expenses may have coverage. I cannot guarantee but the language in the plan states:
If Your Trip is delayed at least 5 consecutive hours from the original departure time and prevents You from reaching Your intended Destination the Company will reimburse you for only one delay per Insured, per Trip, up to the Maximum Limit shown in the Schedule. The Trip Delay benefit will cover Reasonable Additional Expenses until travel becomes possible to the originally scheduled Destination, as a result of a cancellation or delay Your Trip for one of the following Unforeseen events:
(a) Common Carrier delay;
(b) You or a Traveling Companion have lost or had stolen, your passports, travel documents, or money;
(c) reasons listed under Trip Cancellation and Interruption.
