Comprehensive plans offer the most benefits, including Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption. These plans provide the best protection for the investment you have made in your trip.
Since we had no claim, as usual, it is hard to evaluate how the service is if we ever do have a claim. One must always read the fine print in policies, though, as even "Cancel For Any Reason" may not mean that.

Trip Cancellation reimburses 100% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost insured on the policy if the trip is cancelled for a listed covered reason.
Cancel For Any Reason is an optional benefit which can be purchased in addition to Trip Cancellation. If the eligibility requirements are met, the benefit is selected and paid for, the customer can cancel their covered trip for any reason. Any reason does mean any reason.
Cancel For Any Reason benefit reimburses between 50%-75% of the pre-paid and nonrefundable trip cost depending on the policy.
In general, Cancel For Any Reason is applicable if:
1) the policy is purchased with the benefit included within 10-30 days after making the initial trip payment (time frame depends upon specific policy)
2) the full cost of all non-refundable prepaid travel arrangements in insured on the policy
3) the trip is cancelled at-least 2 days prior to the Scheduled Departure Date.

I wasn't sure that the type of trip interruption would be covered. All agents were very human and helpful. It was a little hard to phone because of hours and time differences to New Zealand, and to find the right number to call, but once I got a person, everything went smoothly. They actually worked out the cost with conversions and I received a little more than I expected. I would use them again.

The plan covered our cancelled flight for which I was very pleased. It was a fair response after a nightmare trip where no airline would take responsibility. It did take several months which was a disappointment. Otherwise, I would recommend!

I had a claim and the representative I talked with was helpful. I had trouble with using the AXA website, so I asked for a claim form by mail. I finally got the website figured out before the claim form arrived by mail. My claim was honored in full, but I had complete documentation.

I did not purchase travel insurance within the proper time to cover pre-existing medical issues. I'm in pretty good shape, but you never know what could happen far from home. Next time I will purchase quicker. I liked the security I had, knowing major events and circumstances were covered and at a reasonable price.

1) Purchase the policy within 10-30 days of the initial deposit/payment towards the trip (varies by company).

3) Be medically fit to travel at the time of purchasing the policy.
