After spending a lot of money for this insurance coverage, when we cancelled our trip due to the terrorist act and then war in Israel, our claim was completely denied as war is not a covered reason.

I really don't how satisfied I am with the plan because I never got to use it. Everything went smoothly on our trip.

The plan denied my claim for cancellation coverage due to terrorist attack in Israel. The insurance company used a single small clause in the policy to deny my claim. The clause states that a terrorist attack claim will only be allowed if the attack occurs within 30 days of the planned trip. Our trip was planned for 12/9/2023 and the terrorist attack on Israel was 10/7/2023. Not within the 30 day window and claim denied. This is not right and not what should be expected from decent travel insurance company under such extreme and unexpected circumstances.

The biggest drawback to this plan is that practically speaking it is worthless when facing terrorism or threats from conflicts. There is no cancellation coverage until the State Department applies a “Level 4 Do Not Travel” rating, which they are not likely to do in many cases for diplomatic reasons, or until there is a terrorism incident within 30 days of your travel to a city on your itinerary. For example, even now, Israel is not rated at level 4, even with an ongoing conflict. So, you have to depend on your travel company to cancel the trip voluntarily and give you a refund. Also, bear in mind that many incidents that are terroristic are not labeled as such by our government for various reasons. They do not rate countries or classify behaviors with the safety of citizens as their first priority. Rather, they make ratings and designations for political or diplomatic reasons. This means that criteria such as these are not useful for determining if it is safe or psychologically comfortable to travel. In short, be aware you are unlikely to be able to alter you travel plans for these reasons, even when conditions are risky.

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Essential
The claim was filed October 25th with 9 attachments, I received an email asking for more information Nov 12th, which i responded to Nov 13th with 4 more attached documents, and got an confirmation email. Since i never heard anything again and the website only shows "RECEIVED" I called on Dec 7th. In the call I was told they sent me an email asking for more information, so i informed them i had responded the following day. She put me on hold and said i would receive a call in 20 minutes to finish up the claim. No call back. I called again with similar results, (being told i would get a call by end of day) on Dec 14th, 15th, 18th, 20th and 27th. Still nothing...they have all said, "I've upgraded your claim to priority and sent it directly to the manager." Now I'm being told they have a 2 week re-review period and I'll receive an email.

DO NOT purchase a plan from Nationwide if there is any chance you might actually use it.
My claim isn't even much, about $400 on a plan that cost $163.

Didn't need to use the insurance so can't comment on the claims process or results. Thought the coverage was comprehensive and reasonably priced.

Generali Global Assistance Premium
Often we think that insurance is not necessary. However, on my last foreign trip, a fellow tour trip member (with pre-existing conditions) got sick, was hospitalized, and sadly died. The unthinkable can happen. As my travel group learned about what happened to her, I was thankful to have travel insurance that would supply the support that I or travel companions might need.

Thank goodness that I did not need to use the insurance. I like the Insuremytrip app and always use that when traveling.

Generali Global Assistance Standard
Over the past 20 years, my wife and I have purchased approximately 16 Generali/CSA travel insurance policies through InsureMyTrip. InsureMyTrip reps have always been very responsive and great to work with. In general, we have been extremely pleased with Generali/CSA's Standard policy and service.

Due to a health issue in October 2022, I contacted Customer Service and sent an email to Generali that I wanted to purchase another policy for a trip in spring 2023 but needed clarification on coverage for a possible pre-existing condition. The C.S. rep couldn't answer it; he told me to read the policy. I did but with no clarification, I sent an email to Generali requesting an answer. Their generic response was for me to contact C. S. (again?) for the answer. This was bad service. So I purchased a policy from another insurance company that answered my question

In October 2022, I filed a claim with Generali/CSA for partial coverage payment due to our need to cancel our "insured" trip due to a health issue. In contrast to a small claim we filed with CSA about 8 years ago, (which was handled very well and promptly), there was a severe lack of service/response on this last (October 2022) claim. Generali's claims personnel did not respond to my requests for answers to my email questions. In one phone call in early December to the claims rep, (S. G.), I asked her for answers to my email questions. She informed me she hadn't read my two-month old claims report yet, but would get an answer to me in a day or two. NO ONE EVER RESPONDED.

On December 27, 2022 Generali informed me via email that they approved my claim and they would send a check to me (to receive) in 7-10 business days. HOORAY! They also asked for verification of my address. Their record was wrong so I sent two or three emails to them with the correct address (Circle vs Drive). Drive is another street. They never corrected the address.

On December 28, I received an email from Zelle (whoever they are) and was told THEY would be sending me the check (also to the incorrect address) but I needed to complete their form in four days which required me to accept "cookies" - not the kind to eat, I refused to respond to them as I wouldn't accept "cookies". The end result is that GENERALI SENT ME THE CHECK FOR THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE CLAIM which I received (even with the incorrect address) January 7, 2023. THANK YOU, GENERALI!

I think Generali is an honest company providing great coverages at a very reasonable price; however, because of their competition with other carriers, they need to improve their customer relations. When (and if) that occurs, I will then consider another purchase of their Standard policy.
